Remember the day when you bought a record, 8-Track, cassette tape, or CD to listen to your favorite recording artist or band? Remember when you learned about a band by discovering one of their fliers on the street and went to the concert to sample their music? Remember when MTV and network television was the only way to see videos of a group or artist?

Well, this is not that world. With MySpace (also owned by News Corporation just like MyFoxMilwaukee.com), the Internet, YouTube, iTunes, and other modern inventions, the future face of the music industry is evolving faster than ever.

The way music is distributed has been significantly altered over the past few years. The way music is promoted has been changed.

However, one area still remains constant (at least for now): the technology the basic instruments and microphones. While effects have been added and you can distort sound, the basic drum, guitar, bass, and vocalist combination has not changed much (that included the instruments).

So as you use your iPhone as an iPod to download music from iTunes, remember that you can always get a CD when you feel the need for nostalgia.

I guess I am way behind the times, I don't own an Ipod, I just got a cell phone this year (trac phone) for emergency use only. Music wise, I rely on my CD's, some I have purchased others I have downloaded from the computer. I am so not a modern technology person.
