The Christmas music has been blasting through the airwaves for a few weeks now... and since it is AFTER Thanksgiving... I now will allow myself to partake in a few carols.

I always make myself wait until after turkey day because I think it makes the music a little more special. I can't imagine listening to Christmas music round the clock for two months before Christmas... but to each his own.

What are your favorite holiday tunes?

I LOVE Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree...

Yay Amy! I like to wait too. Plus there are only so many that the secular radio stations play and that makes it worse for me. I love the FISH because they play it all. You get to hear the silly Christmas Carols, Some really great songs by many different artists, and lots of Traditional songs too. 105.3

I'll have to check it out! I thought of another song I really like - "Mary did you know" I remember singing it at the Christmas concert in high school. It was so beautiful!!! We also sang a gorgeous arrangement of Silent Night

Ok check this out. I'm going to go off the grid just a little bit here. These are my holiday favorites with a feel of rap, jazz, and r&b feel to it:

Christmas Rappin' by Kurtis Blow. If you don't know who Kurtis Blow is, he is a hip hop artist from the old school of the genre. And plus this was one of the first hip hop songs, that came out in 1979, around the same time when the genre was coming out. A first holiday classic for hip hop.

Christmas In Hollis - By Run D.M.C. - Around 1987, this was mostly a charity song, now a Christmas hip hop classic. Still listen to it.

Sleigh Ride by TLC. This is a upbeat version of Sleigh Ride that they did in 1993. It's a mix of part R&B and Hip Hop. Fun to listen too.

This Christmas by Donny Hathaway. An instant timeless, holiday, soul classic.

What Child Is This? - Vanessa Williams. Find this on her Star Bright CD. It's quite jazzy, but good to listen and relax. On her Silver and Gold CD, the best songs are: the remake of Joy To The World, and December Lullaby are good tunes with a R&B feel to it.

Silent Night/Let It Snow - Boyz II Men. Find this on their Christmas Interpretations Album. This was one of their best songs from the CD that came out in 1993.

In speaking of Silent Night - listen to The Temptations, and Mariah Carey's version of this song.

Soulful Christmas by Faith Evans. It's a James Brown remake of his version of the song.

The Christmas Song, Christmas In Jamaica, and Christmas Time is Here, all by Toni Braxton. These are from her Snowflakes CD, that came out in 2001.

Merry Christmas, Baby - N

(Cut off) Now I would say that Otis Redding's version is timeless, but En Vogue's version is better in my opinion. Check the album, "The Gift of Christmas".

Deck The Halls/Silent Night - Whitney Houston combined the two songs part of her One Wish Holiday Album that came out in 2003. A mix of r&b.

I also like instrumental music around the holidays. One particular, Kenny G. "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and his version of "Auld Lang Syne" are good jingles.

My absolute Christmas song favorite is The Little Drummer Boy and Do You Hear What I Hear. Of course everything else is good also. I just love Christmas music but not until the day after Thanksgiving. I think that it was played a little too early on the radio this year. DECK THE HALLS FA :A :A :A :A

LOL Stephen, you have lots of favorites. Amy, I love Mary Did You Know? It just gets me when they say that she is kissing the face of God. But I do have to say that eventhough the song is a little outdated, Joy Williams has a song called 2000 December's ago. I just love that song. But you can only hear it on the FISH. (at least I think that is the only station around here to play it.)

Ooooooh I LOVE "Mary Did You Know", I've only heard it once in church a few years ago but it was sooooo pretty!

I also like "Carol of the Bells" "Do You Hear What I Hear" "Little Drummer Boy" "Christmas Canon" and "Wonderful Christmas Time".

Anyone ever hear Bruce Springstein and the band sing "Santa Clause is coming to town"??? It's pretty cool.
