What happened to the guy with all the tears? What happened to the guy who treasured playing with a storied team like the Packers? What happened to the quarterback who relished playing in the shadow of Bart Starr and Vince Lombardi?

What happened?

I'm a huge fan of Favre -- and will forever remember the last game I saw him play in Green Bay. I was with my son -- it was raining, cold, miserable. But we couldn't have been happier to sit through it all.

But I gotta say, he's playing with our brains.

he really seemed to be pushed into retiring. No one left up on his. And he clearly just wanted to keep playing. But hte media never left up on him. I say fire the big guys at corporate who are making it tough on him. HE's our hero and we want him to play here. But if they won't let him as a fan I wish him luck he is the all AMerican hero and the best role model ever in the history of sports. This is not his fault. He just wants to keep doing what he does best. Then agin I thing hanes commercials would be good also

That is the point, Northern. Ted Thompson didn't want Brett to stay. It was obvious and I am sure even more obvious to Brett.
This is old news anyway. We all already knew Brett asked to be released and why shouldn't he?
Thompson doesn't want him. They aren't going to let him play. It's the same thing that happened to Montana when Frisco had Young come in and Montana went on to win a SB for KC.
If Brett really wants to play again I say let him go where ever he wants. It's his life. It isn't fair to expect him to just do nothing when they won't be using him.
I just wish everyone would quit blaming Brett.
He wanted to come back to Titletown and Ted said no. Give the man a break.
The media jumps on his every word. One station even had the nerve to call Brett's brother while he was at the movies with his daughter and even after he said he was at a movie they kept pushing him with questions. How rude is that?

Brett loves FOOTBALL people!!!!......football...he loves to play football. He loves the competitive spirit of the game. He loves the Game.

Didn't Jordan say that?

Don't all the great competitors remind you of that passion......of doing something you love ....these guys have great love for the game. BF loves football more than the Packers Organization. He will always have love for the team in Green Bay.....but he loves to play so much that he's willing to go elsewhere to play.

There is nothing wrong with that. With moving on. New experiences. MJ did it.

I respect that. It makes me love him even more.

For at least two years that I can think of all the talk was about if Brett Favre was going to retire. In the post season it was "Was that his last year?" In the pre-season it was "Is this his last year?" For months after his last game last season the question most asked of him was "Are you going to retire?" So maybe he was pushed into it. But seriously, "the greatest quarterback in the history of the game" is going to be badgered into early retirement? I hardly think so. I think he's had second thoughts and would like to play the game again. So what's the big deal? If the Packers don't want him...fine. Do they have the right to prevent him from playing for another team? Apparently so. A deals a deal. I'll tell you one thing though...he's already ruined his legacy. If you asked me anyway.

Farve said his "retirement" was based on the fact that they didn't care this year if he came back or not. he didn't feel wanted, he felt more or less like they'd prefer him to go. I'd retire too if I got treated that way after all I did for a company.

So I blame Thompson more than Farve.

Besides, there are MANY people who give tearful farewells to jobs whether they are teachers, doctors, lawyers, what not... and within a year of retirement, at least 75% have returned in some capacity to their job if it was something they really loved.

My mom is a retired teacher and is playing with the idea of becoming a substitute or a teacher's aide.

So you can't blame him for wanting back into something he loved, and something he probably didn't really want to retire from in the first place.

It was released today that he said to an aquaintance that he felt unwanted, and like they would prefer him to retire. After all he did for our team, I'd leave too if I were treated that way.

I don't see the harm of releasing him to play with another team though.

If Aaron whatever his name is is as good as they say he is... then he should hold his own against whoever Farve plays for next.

The best role model ever in the history of sports. Wow - what a guy. Was that before or after his addiction to drugs. Was that before or after his excessive drinking. Was that before or after his wife told him to shape up or their relationship was history. He was (and probably still is) an exceptional football player but the greatest role model in the history of sports is a stretch. How about Henry Aaron, Ernie Banks, Cal Ripkin Jr., Walter Payton or others who played the game the right way and kept their noses clean. We all admire his toughness, his competative spirit, and his absolute joy in playing the game, but put down the green and gold cool-ade for a second and think about the word perspective.

And it seems that theres a new side to the story almost everyday, Bretts going to do this..Brett's going to do that. It would just be nice to know exactly what hes doing so we can put this situation to rest.
