What happened to the guy with all the tears? What happened to the guy who treasured playing with a storied team like the Packers? What happened to the quarterback who relished playing in the shadow of Bart Starr and Vince Lombardi?

What happened?

I'm a huge fan of Favre -- and will forever remember the last game I saw him play in Green Bay. I was with my son -- it was raining, cold, miserable. But we couldn't have been happier to sit through it all.

But I gotta say, he's playing with our brains.

I've been keeping track of how many times I bring the motorcycle to work -- so I get a better feel for how much money, if any, I'm saving by doing so.

So far, I've ridden in 17 times this season. What does that mean in terms of cost savings?

Well, I average about 55 miles per gallon with my bike. I have a 44 mile round trip. So on my bike I burned about 13.6 gallons of gas on my bike. If we're talking $4.15/gallon, that's a cost of about $56.44 for gas for those 17 days.

Doesn't sound like much until you see how much it would have cost by car. In those same 17 days, my car (which averages 33 miles per gallon) would have burned 22.6 gallons. If you use the same $4.15/gallon price, that's a total cost of $93.79 for 17 days by car.

Still following me? After 17 days, I saved $37.35 in gasoline just by riding my motorcycle. That's a few lunches at a fast food place for me -- or more likely, about nine gallons of gas.

Interesting, huh?

If you didn't see it on FOX 6 News at 10 Wednesday, you missed something quite funny. And Jeremy Ross proved he's quite the sport while reporting down at Summerfest.

Take a moment to watch it. I promise, it'll be worth the few second it takes to watch it.

We're halfway through the baseball season -- and the Crew is several games above .500. Fans are showing their support by filling the seats at Miller Park and watching the games on TV.

But I gotta say, I'm hearing more and more grumbling about the Brewers than I have lately. Do we have such high expectations that it's World Series or nothing?

I say, quit your complaining. Let's enjoy this ride -- and maybe like the Packers -- it'll last for a few years or longer.

Your thoughts?

Yup, had water in my basement over the weekend too. Three of the four walls were leaking.

And that's in part because the driving rain was filling up our window wells. Wouldn't have believed it could happen -- had I not seen it with my own eyes. Spent Saturday evening with buckets scooping water out of those window wells.

Oh well, them's the breaks.

Okay, I'm as frustrated as the next person about the high price of gas...

But what makes me even more angry about this high price of fuel -- is how difficult it is to finish filling your tank on an even dollar.

You know what I'm talking about? Unless you're right now, you're going to end up pumping $45.01 or $38.02. One or two cents off almost all the time -- because each little squeeze of fuel costs that much more.

Is this just me -- or is it ticking off other people too?

I spent Sunday afternoon with my family at Chocolate Fest in Burlington. If you've never been there before, it's a treat -- with lots of sweet treats to devour. Let's just say, I've had my fill of chocolate for a while.

But on this Memorial Day, I'm thinking about the young guy I met at the Marine display on the festival grounds. There were a couple of Marines there along with some recruits who were going to be headed to boot camp in the next couple of weeks. They were encouraging people to try the chin-up bar to win a t-shirt or baseball cap.

When I asked a couple of questions of one of the Marines-to-be, he was as polite as can be. He was eager to talk about what he's about to experience in boot camp. And there was a sense of optimism and excitement that made me proud to shake this hand. To that young man, I wish the best -- because if he's any indication of the kind of men and women who serve in our Armed Forces (and I'm absolutely sure he is), then I have never felt safer and more proud to call myself an American. Semper Fi.

By the way, my daughter earned that t-shirt by doing the flexed arm hang for 70 seconds (yeah, she rocks). I was able to do six chin-ups (which is a lot harder than I remember).
