I heard something today that struck me as a bit odd - that being the NAACP has tabbed the Rev. Jeremiah Wright to be their keynote speaker at an upcoming convention.  I guess I'm not real sure that Wright's anti-American and hateful comments do a whole lot to advance the cause of the organization.  I'm sure he has done many good things for his congregation and neighborhood in Chicago but there must be others out there who have done as much, if not more, good and haven't asked God to damn America or accused the government of introducing AIDS in a plot to kill African Americans.  The NAACP is a viable organization and can certainly choose the speaker they want - I just wonder if they could have made a better choice.  What do you think?

Try looking into past happenings. The organizations goal is domimation not equality and they will acheive that goal because of the gullibility of the country. It's easy!

I do agree with babs. But I do think if they were going to pick a pastor, mine would be the greatest choice. Eventhough he is white and a bit older, he works IN the city, walks the streets, gets to know the neighbors, and even interacts with gang members when the opportunity arises. There are many more people like that, but the person they chose has gotten media attention, and will be heard from everybody. People who belive in him will want to listen to have their little pep rally, and people who don't think he is all that great are going to listen to prove that they are right, and people who have only heard his name in the news are going to listen because they want to know if this is all true. So as for the NAACP, they did do a good job in chosing someone who people will want to hear no matter what their reasons. What they should have done was choose somebody who deserves it and promotes peace, not whatever it is this person who should not be a pastor preaches. He doesn't preach the bible, he preaches what he wants to do to achieve his agenda which is to further divide black and white people.

The NAACP has disappointed me. It has become a hate organization and I have not seen that the organization is doing anything positive for colored people or for anyone else. So I guess they can have hateful, negative people speaking to their group if that is what the NAASP wishes to foster within their ranks.

I would just love to see what he talks about and if he is going to be allowed to spread his "anti white" message at this meeting. If that is the case, then that opens the doors for ANY ethnic group to do the same and that would be like creating more of a war in our city/county between people than we already have.

It's just funny when the truth is labeled anti-white or anti-black. the truth is white people have done some messed up stuff to the black community and other minority communities. It's true that blacks commit a lot of crimes in Milwaukee. There are a lot of truths and since it offends people it's labeled anti-whatever. I heard some of Malcolm X, and a lot of stuff that guy was saying was just the plain truth. he may have got a little over violent in his solution, but it was the plain ugly truth. I believe blacks have a right to be pissed. they just do. Native Americans even more. I wonder what America would like, if the founding fathers outlawed slavery in 1776.

I would agree the guy could use some originality, chickens coming home to roost? It's been done, ya know?

Getting angry never solved anything really except perpetuate the problem. Coming up with real solutions and a plan... hey, thats something different. When you get angry, say things you know you shouldnt say (tactless), etc... it shows your own weakness, and if nothing else, he is letting those who he is 'against' know they are winning.

Nobody ever said the NAACP wanted him to speak to endorse him or something. He's an interesting figure all of a sudden, so they want to 'investigate' what he has to say. They could end up hearing what he has to say and telling him to get lost. It gives him a chance to interact with other black leaders, and see where it goes... he could end up burning himself in the end.

Besides, its not like other major civil rights are all that great. MLK JR's wife used to talk about how she was all about her late husband's work and interested in public engagements... so when the Atlanta Women's Club wanted to host her, she agreed... but only for something like $50,000. This happened with several others as well: So in the end, it turned into greed.

The US hosted Iran's president... doesnt mean we endorse him or anything.
