I love Music

Have you ever heard a song and immediately you can remember where you were, what you were doing and who you were with?  I even feel the emotions that I felt at the time the song came out.

Some of the songs bring great joy while others bring disappointment from choices I made in my life and even sorrow such as when my mom died, I remember the songs that were popular then, but then again when I hear songs like Jambalya by the Carpenters or Crazy by Patsy Cline,  I am reminded that she lived and loved music and to sing as much as I do.  I get that from her. Even my first love when I hear that song those emotions come back, music is very powerful.  Music enables me to worship my Master at times when words aren't enough, tears will stream down my face because the song is expressing the gratitude and love I feel towards Him.

You can usually find me with my Ipod which I consider one of the greatest inventions since sliced bread :)  I have about 1600 songs.  I love all kinds of music. Techno, electronica, contempory christian, ballads, acapella, dance, country, except one that is the screaming music my son happens to love, however; I don't get the screaming thing :(    I guess I know how other parents feel. I can say though my son also shares the love of music as well.

I wonder does everyone have this or just some of us?  How about some of you is there a particular song that has meaning to you and why if you don't mind sharing

When I was driving home after my Grandmother's funeral Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven" played on the radio. I can not listen to that song to this day without crying.
John Lennon's "Imagine" takes me back to where I was when I heard he died and the tears we all shared.
I have songs from my childhood that still make me smile. "Sister Mary Elephant" by Cheech and Chong, "Winchester Cathedral", "The Unicorn" by the Irish Rovers. I love singing along to those.
My all time favorites are the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Bootsy Collins, Prince, George Clinton (Parliment/Funkadelic) and Nirvana. I believe Nirvana's MTV Unplugged is one of the best, most heartfelt performances ever. It was like Kurt was saying good-bye to everyone. He even asked for all the flowers and candles so it would look like a funeral.
I love many types of music. I grew up on Motown, Funk, Country and Soft Rock. I never got into acid or punk rock. I like to understand the words.
I could list so many songs it would seem to go on forever. Music is a valuable tool and we are very lucky to have it.
I just explained "Mother's Little Helper" by the Stones to my 15 year old son. He thought it was pretty funny. My doctor had just prescribed Valium for me to help with sleeping.

I Love Music by: The O'Jays

I love music, any kind of music
I love music, just as long as it's groovin'

Makes me laugh, makes me smile
All the while
Whenever I'm with you girl
While we dance, make romance
I'm enchanted by the things that you do

I love music
sweet, sweet music
Long as it's swinging
All the joy that it's bringin'

I'm so happy to be in complete harmony,
I love you, girl
And to hold you so close in my arms
I'm so glad you're mine all mine mine

Nothing can be better than a sweet love song
So sweet
So sweet
So mellow, mellow
When you got the girl that you love in your arm
Oh honey, I love you, I love you, yeah
Music is the healing force of the world
It's understood by every man, woman, boy and girl
And that's why, that's why I say
I love music
Any kind of music
I love music
Just as long as it's groovin', groovin'

Music makes the atmosphere so fine
Lights down low
Just me and you baby, you know
'Specially when you got a cold glass of wine
Mellow, mellow wine and song

I love music
Any, any kind of music
I love music
Just as long as it's groovin'

I love, I love, I love, I love, I love music
Sweet, sweet music
I love, I love, I love, I love, I love music

I LOVE Earth, Wind and Fire!
They made some of the most inspirational music ever!
Whenever I need a pick-me-up I throw in the greatest hits CD and sing along.
"Reasons" is one of the best love songs ever.

Katbird: Reasons by EWF takes me back to the summer when I had so much fun....the O Jay's actually were inspirational too in alot of thier music. I think any song can be inspirational (just about there are some wooo) I have always liked happy uplifting, heart felt songs and songs that make me want to dance and move :) But there were also times when a sad song expressed how I felt too.

One I forgot to Mention is Rod Stewart Love Him :)

Southern Belle how blessed you are to have special songs a memory of your daddy dancing with you and of your husband.

The song Dancing with My Father by Luther Van Dross makes me cry when ever I hear it (Luther actually lost his father at a young age)I always think of my mom though when I hear the song to dance with my mom like moms do with thier babies when they are little and yes the song Tears in Heaven also makes me cry too because I know the story behind the song, he lost his little boy when he was 4.

I almost forgot Leonard Cohen!!

Bird On The Wire lyrics

Like a bird on the wire,
like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free.
Like a worm on a hook,
like a knight from some old fashioned book
I have saved all my ribbons for thee.
If I, if I have been unkind,
I hope that you can just let it go by.
If I, if I have been untrue
I hope you know it was never to you.

Like a baby, stillborn,
like a beast with his horn
I have torn everyone who reached out for me.
But I swear by this song
and by all that I have done wrong
I will make it all up to thee.
I saw a beggar leaning on his wooden crutch,
he said to me, "You must not ask for so much."
And a pretty woman leaning in her darkened door,
she cried to me, "Hey, why not ask for more?"

Oh like a bird on the wire,
like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free.

I remember an awkward moment when I was a Freshman and I was attempting to fool around with a popular Senior from our High School at her house. The song makes me giggle every time I hear it. The song is, Your Time is Gonna Come by Led Zeppelin. I wonder if she even remembers ???
