I recently learned that a former ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) Chapter president was arrested for having child pornography [story here].
Also heard that a very high ranking person at the Susan G. Komen Foundation was arrested for having child pornography [story here]. (This is a PDF)
Why isn't there the media buzz for these people like there is for say, a Catholic Priest or Nun? or a school teacher? Child pornography is a horrible crime, and every instance should be reported from begining to end. From arrest to (hopefully) jail. There is NO excuse for taking advantage of a child.
Do people fear the ACLU so much that they are not willing to bring out the truth? I think it is about time that the ACLU is shown for the usless organization that they are.
Is the Susan G. Komen Foundation so loved that people are afraid of saying something? Yes, the Susan G. Komen Foundation does a lot of good, but that is no reason for hiding the crimes committed by their employees.

This is the best news I have seen all day.
The recall against Ald. McGee will proceed. (read story here)
I don't live in his district (thank God), nor do I live in any Milwaukee District, but I am convinced that once this person is removed from office there will be a great improvement in how the City Government works.
To who ever plans on running against him - you have my vote. . . well, you would if I could vote on it.

Yes, today is my birthday (or whatever is left of today), yet this is quite possibly one of the worst days that I have ever had.
Besides turning 41, my wife has spent the last week in ICU and now I find out that insurance isn't all that happy about paying some of the expenses (did you know that EMS isn't really a necessity, even when someone is bleeding to death?) and it seems that many of my friends and family have forgotten what this day means to me.
I know, 41 - isn't that a little old to be waiting for birthdays? Not for me. I spend 363 days out of the year doing for others, selflessly. You need something - give me a call and I am there for you even at the expense of what I had planned. I look forward to birthdays as a day for me. So rather than an evening with the ones that I love, I took myself out to dinner and bought myself a little something.
Granted, my wife being in the hospital is of the most importance, as is her recovery, but is it that much to ask to be remembered? Everyone at work remembered and I have only been there for 9 months, but friends and family that I have known for years. . . nothing.
Sorry if I sound a little petty and selfish, it is just the way I feel and could be the stress of my wife being in the hospital. I guess I should be happy to have another year under my belt - there are so many that will not get that opportunity this year.
Thank you for listening, I needed this.

Oh no, what do I say? How about just a little bit about me :-)
I am 40(ish), married and the father of a 3-year old son. I work as an administrative assistant.
I am also a pretty good cook and watch way to much of the FoodNetwork.
I graduated High School in the 80's in the Netherlands, I have visited all 50 states (lived in 9), 11 countries (lived in 4).
Photography is probably my most favorite of all hobbies, mostly flowers and landscapes - but will occasionally do something totally unexpected from me.
Here are some of my favorite photos -
Very close-up of the inside of a flower.
Some pretty purple flowers
Protea flower in very close detail.
There are more, please take a look at my photos.
