Today is a sad day ,the once greatest franchise in pro sports, the Packers, who were so beloved around the world because they were a fan team ,one who put the game and players and fans first not the business side of this boyhood game is gone. I guess it was to be expected with Ted "i'm so better than you" Thompson as the mouthpiece for this destructive new outlook  I always taught the kids to be Packers fans because they were different your behavior on and off the field mattered being accesable to the fans mattered .not any more  After watching a man give everything a man can give to his team for 16 years and be spit on and disrespected the way Packer management did is nothing short of criminal now I will teach the kids that there is no place left in pro sports that put the players and fans first The Packers behavior during this has assured that Thompson will be known forever as the man who destroyed the Packers mystique. If someone only had the guts to say wrong is wrong instead of oh its just a business decision pro sports would be an example for our children instead the Packers have showed the world  that even in the city of Green Bay loyalty and dedication will get you screwed everytime. What a great lesson for our youngsters to learn

Here are some more lessons for the kids. One - keep fans and employer in the dark for a couple of years about your plans to keep working or retiring. Two - Retire with big old crocodile tears. Three - Unretire after your employer has made plans to move forward. Four - Go on national TV and call your boss a liar. Five - Steal the show with "I'm here" during your fellow employee's debut. Six - Keep playing the "it's them - not me" card. As far as fans first - hello. The NFL (as well as MLB, NBA, NHL) is a business - Green Bay is no different. They market "the mystique, the hallowed ground at Lambeau, the self proclaimed Title Town, and they market it well - to the point of some folks (one born every minute variety) buying worthless stock certificates. Favre did a lot for Green Bay but don't think for a minute he didn't have a business side to him - his bank account says he did.

The Packers still handled it poorly The mystique, the hallowed ground at lambeau, titletown all just mere marketing tools I am sure there are enough people still alive to explain to you what was truely done to EARN those mere marketing statements. There are some folks who think that big business{one born every minute} can treat people however they want and its okay as long as it is for the good of the business. Also make sure to put your head in the sand when confronted by your boss and he flat out lied to your face nothing like standing up for whats right god forbid if you do that!really this is just another example of a society seemingly headed down the wrong path and now we have Ted as our bus driver to take us to the promised land, I have a feeling the bus might not arrive

Society heading down the wrong path is Johnny Jolly getting caught with 200 grams of cocaine (and I agree he's innocent until proven guilty). The bus hasn't arrived at a Super Bowl for over 10 years so maybe it's time another road was tried. I feel for the folks at GM in Janesville who are losing their jobs. I feel for many others across the nation who are getting let go because of "business decisions". I have a hard time feeling sorry for Favre with his millions and with the 20 million/ten year bribe he was offered. I say give A. Rodgers a chance - remember, Favre started playing for G.B. in 1992 and didn't get them to the Super Bowl until after the '96 season and only then because of Reggie White and a dominant defense. You're right about the Packers handling it poorly, but they weren't alone.

I don't think anyone's saying Brett shouldn't bear SOME guilt in this situation. However, the management handled this so poorly. THey disgraced the franchise and everything it's built upon. I have no problem giving rodgers a chance, but did we have to spit on Favre to do that? I don't think Brett wants your sympathy and don't forget the fans $$ pay his millions salary. At least he has the ***** to say his piece and doesn't hide and mince words like the evil Thompson. What would Curly and Vince think? Disgusting!
