CRAWFORD, Texas - Jenna Bush couldn't see herself getting married at the White House surrounded by antique furniture and oil portraits of presidents. So she and Henry Hager said "I do" Saturday at President Bush's ranch in Crawford where the corn is thigh-high, roads are named 'Cattle Drive' and the Texas flag is painted on the rooftops of barns.

"This is a joyous occasion for our family, as we celebrate the happy life ahead of her and her husband, Henry," Bush said. "It's also a special time for Laura who this Mother's Day weekend will watch a young woman we raised together walk down the aisle."

The president and the bride picked "You Are So Beautiful" for their father and daughter dance.

Below is a photograph of U.S. Marine Ty Ziegel and his wife Renee on their wedding day.

Sergeant Ziegel, 26, was injured during his second tour of George Bush's war in Iraq. He was trapped in a burning truck that had been targeted by a suicide bomber. The heat melted the flesh from his face and after returning to the United States, he spent 18 months in Brooke Army Medical Center, not far from the happy Bush compound in Texas.

Ziegel's injuries led to the loss of his left forearm and of three fingers of his right hand. He was rendered blind in his right eye. He also sustained widespread severe burns that led to the loss of his ears and much of the tissue on his face. His shattered skull was replaced by a plastic dome, and a face was constructed more or less from scratch with salvaged tissue, holes left where his ears and nose had been.

Despite the range and severity of his injuries, and after over 50 operations, Ty recovered enough to leave the hospital to marry his longtime sweetheart, Renee Kline,
in 2006.

They lived together in Illinois until their separation last year.

Most certainly, Sgt. Ziegel joins all Americans in sending best wishes for continued health and prosperity to the Bush family on their "most joyous occasion".

...speechless.

More heart-wrenching stories like this one are posted on "You Tube". In fact, my step-brother showed me a video of a disabled young veteran who served in Iraq. He sits in a wheelchair, alone, watching an old clip of Bush and his aides at some extravagantly lavish banquet, laughing at jokes about the evasive Bin Laden, all the while they're scoffing down dinner at a mere thousand-dollar-a-plate.

Keep on kickin'-a**...ifilus, shake 'em up,

Wake up America

Anyone look up the word 'military' lately? Hello!!! You VOLUNTARILY sign up to fight. There was no draft for THIS war...fighting is what he signed up for. I DO feel badly that they get such horrific injuries and die, but no one forced them to sign up.

GITRDONE = Dick Cheney!

In an exclusive interview with ABC News, Cheney was asked what effect the grim milestone of at least 4,000 U.S. deaths in the five-year Iraq war might have on the nation.

"The president carries the biggest burden, obviously," Cheney said. "He's the one who has to make the decision to commit young Americans, but we are fortunate to have a group of men and women, the all-volunteer force, who voluntarily put on the uniform and go in harm's way for the rest of us."

Cheney made headlines when asked about recent polls that show about two-thirds of Americans say the fight in Iraq is not worth it.

"So?" Cheney replied during that interview. "You can't be blown off course by polls."

Here's hoping Deadeye Dick enjoyed celebrating the Bush nuptials.

GITRDONE: Please tell us exactly when was this war declared?

And how would you know whether I smoke dope...or smoke anything for that matter?

Uh...everybody...if you can remember back to 2003 there was all kinds of flap about how the US Congress didn't declare war. The President whipped out some kind of presidential something or other claiming he didn't need Congress to do that. Everthing I have found says "Iraq invasion". No headlines clearly stating, "War Declared". If somebody could find that for me please.

Speaking as a veteran I have to say that GITRDONE is right. It's an all volunteer military and you take your chances when you play the game. We all know what the possibilties are when we go in. We just hope it doesn't happen to us. Additionally, one of the things I was charged with defending was ifilus' right to be the pot stirring, nit picking pain in the ass that he is.

So...I'm a "dope smokin' wingnut" AND "a nit picking pain in the ass".

Please note: one thing I am not is a name-caller.

I never said that my sympathies were not with the wounded and the dead, so please don't get me wrong...All I said was it was voluntary enlistment. Had it been a draft effort, then I'd be pissed!

So...Dick Cheney is a dope smokin',wingnut, nit picking ,pain in the ass?

COOL!!!

The point is this young man volunteered, but this "war" is one big lie and our soldiers are there with broken down work equipment, limited supplies and fighting for lies. Bush and Co. are making buku bucks while our men and women, not to mention the hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis, are dying AND our economy is falling on it's face.
I am positive Sgt. Ziegel feels it was all worth it.
It is WAY past time to bring our soldiers home.

ifilus...at times I wonder why you keep posting.
I am very glad you do, but people around here are always waiting with torches and pitchforks for you.
You could say the sky is blue and they'd jump on you.

Ditto Katbird and Ifilus.

Seriously guys, this is a horrible story. Whether a man volunteers or is forced to he served our country. REAL Americans would be greatful and feel sorry for the guys crappy situation. Do you think his wife looks happy?

GITerrrdon-
Atleast acknowledge this guy fought for your right to resort to chilish name calling.

Not close. I merely equated your comment to Cheney's because what you wrote echoed the VP's own "who cares, they volunteered" sentiment.

You, on the other hand, blatantly labeled me a "dope smokin' wingnut" with absolutely nothing upon which to base your accusation.

By the way, "wingnut" is a term currently used in U.S. politics as an epithet referring to anyone that holds extremely conservative views or supports far right-wing politics.

GITRDONE: Do you honestly believe me to be an extreme right winger?

I am not suprised.

A wedding gives Mr. Ifilus the opportunity to take a "political" shot. That says alot about you, and your political positions.

To me, being compared to Dick Cheney IS an insult. And NOBODY said "who cares, they volunteered" here. I DID point out that they volunteered, but I NEVER said I do not care or who cares! I care a lot. I work closely with the Veterans in Milwaukee. I hold a P.O.W./M.I.A. Recognition Day event EVERY year since 2001. Trust me sweety...I freakin' care. I don't like this stupid and senseless war! I believe Bush to be about as bright as a doorknob. I think Dick Cheney lives up to his name! I believe our government to be run by greedy Nazzis. And 'torches"? I don't come after anyone with torches unless they have come after me with them first. As far as our guys coming home from this stupid war...I try my dangdest to get them over to the Milwaukee War Memorial to take their place as rightful members of the Milwaukee Veterans. Those Veterans can help them get settled in and talk them through everything they could possibly face being back home.

I believe this war to be MORE senseless than Vietnam. Neither war was necessary and both caused so many needless deaths. But do I blame the soldiers? Hell no! Our WONDERFUL government used both wars for their own personal ego strokers and personal gain. In NO OTHER COUNTRY would a government leave their own soldiers behind. I swear, our country would probably be better off if we let a kindergarten class run it!
