Hi All

I saw a show on Sunday morning about the former Cat Stevens. I won't tell you what it was about because it has nothing much to do with my point.

When I was a young child in the late 70's I LOVED Cat Stevens. My Mom had a record, Great Hits?, I really don't know. I listened to it a lot. I had a record player in my room (among various other things). One day I didn't put the record away when I was done with it and somehow, it eventually ended up under the wheel of my bed (there wasn't any carpeting). When my Mom was helping me clean my room, we came across the record and the sun must've hit it because it had curled up and looked like a taco salad shell. My Mom freaked out and said we had to go to the store right away and get another one because if my Father saw it he would be mad. So we went to the store and got a replacement record and my "love affair" with Cat continued. The years went on and had a whole entire dance I had made up to Moonshadow and made my Dad come to my room and see it. Anyway, what I guess I am trying to say is that I have a lot of memories that have to do with Cat Stevens. Every once in a while I would hear a song on the radio and remember or, if I came across a song in a JukeBox, I would play it. It seems to me like it had been too long since I had thought about it and I was refreshed again to see him on the TV.

Anyway, I don't care what he calls himself, he will always be Cat Stevens to me. Plus, I learned something this week, I didn't know that he wrote the music and lyrics to, First Cut is the Deepest. **SHOCKED**

I always had thought that Davey Jones from the Monkees was my first love, but now I remember the truth.

I love Cat Stevens! My two favs are:

Wild World

Sitting

(His newer music under his other name is lacking. It just doesn't have the same spirit as his older music did.)

Blessed-
I've only heard the one song off his new album and it didn't really hit me the same, either.

I've got a top 5:

Hard Headed Woman
Another Saturday Night (I don't really know if that is the title)
Peace Train
Morning has Broken (did he write that, too?)
Wild World

Not necessarily in that order.(OK, so it's a top 6 if you include, Moonshadow)

P.S - Did you see the Moonshadow cartoon?

I only have one recently purchased cd of his classics; however, I went to look at albums and I quit counting after 5. But I do know which Moonshadow cartoon you meant, because that album is called Teaser and the Firecat.

My boyfriend and I are a wealth of musical information. I had a Wurlitzer jukebox at home when I was a kid. (My dad used to repair jukeboxes, so I grew up with magnitudes of all types of music.) I'm going to go crank some vinyl now! LOL

I loved Cat Steven's too. Can you buy his music anywhere? Seems like all the music shops are closing. My favorite by him was called "Father & Son". He sure was a good looking guy back then. I did see him on one of those news shows like 60 minutes or something. He is practicing some religion now but not sure what it is. Wouldn't it be great if he made a comeback???

Lovinlife- I think he's been a Muslum (is that how that is spelled??) for the last 30 years or something. I would think that they would have his music at Best Buy and maybe other places?? I haven't looked. I don't buy much music :(

It would be great if he could reconnect with his fans and put out some great new music!!
