Hi everyone. I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving holiday.I certainly did. Now it is full speed  til Christmas. I spent "Black Friday" with family and friends because according to all of the news reports it was crazy out there. Maybe it was, I enjoyed a nice lunch in Newburyport instead. I did venture out this morning trolling for a few sale items that my teenagers had requested and remarkably everywhere I went I was able to get parking fairly close. There wasn't any traffic and the lines in the stores weren't very long.

Is all this madness being manufactured by the news media and retailers? Are more people shopping on line or are they simply waiting until the weekend before Christmas when the deep discounts are there? What about the after holiday rush? I have always found it to be busier than the weeks leading up to Christmas.

I think it's more that people are shopping online after "Black Friday"...I heard something that the number of purchases made on "Cyber Monday" (AKA this coming Monday) doubled between 2005 and last year. I think people are looking to get things with no fuss, no muss and no bother, so they're going "Black Friday" to get the insane "doorbuster" deals that start way early in the morning until the afternoon and then saying the heck with it and hitting online retailers. Especially where everything has to be shipped, people if they're ordering are hopefully ordering early. Which is why there's actually quite a few online retailers who offer specials for this coming Monday. As for me, I just gotta go to the craft store and pick up supplies. It's a homemade Christmas this year!

I am sitting at my laptop right now after just shopping at Amazon. I am also headed to the local craft store to update a few Christmas decorations. I think you are correct about the online shopping. Why go head to head with all the other shoppers when you can simply point and click while sitting on your couch?

Exactly, Guggi! You just have to plan ahead. Otherwise your order can wind up on backorder. I actually had that happen quite a few years ago, in my first time shopping online for presents. Wound up getting the CD I'd ordered in July of the next year. Thank goodness for dollar stores, but now I order early!

August, sweet August with your purple heather on the marsh and your multicolored sunsets. Why can't it be August all year round?
