I am amazed at all the activity  at the bird feeders this morning!! All the seed on the ground must be frozen solid under a sheet of ice!!! I just put out some oranges for a special treat... I wonder how long it will take them to freeze solid? 
OK Birdies and squirrels ... on your mark...Get set.....
ATTACK !!!!!

LOL.
You remind me a lot of how my grandpa was. He lived in New England and really liked taking care of the birds. (Not so much squirrels--Rhode Island's got a bit of a problem with the squirrel population and they're a big pest out there). You've inspired me. Next time we're out running errands I'm going to pick up a few bird feeders for our big tree in the back yard. My grandpa always said, "God takes care of me, so I take care of His birds." I think that goes for all of us . . .
Another idea (this one won't freeze) : ) have you tried peanut butter on pine cones, rolled in bird seed? That one's pretty popular, too.

I found this guy digging in the yard.
I'm going to put out some suet and a seed wreath tomorrow as a Christmas present to my friends and , of course, some nuts and corn too.

I envy people who have good locations for bird feeders where they can watch the feeders while eating breakfast or reading the newspaper. In our West Allis bungalow, the dining room window faces out neighbors house 12 feet away, but I can watch my neighbors feeders while I wash the dishes. Someday.

I wasn't online much in December so just now looked through your older posts. Loved the fall pics. Looks like you had fun in the Christmas Parade.
