Capt Bill Prince of the Nordic Diver died yesterday (May 20) in Lake Wazee (Black River Falls, WI). 

I only found out via a local scuba diving forum, haven't found any reference to it in the news. 

He was a local diver/charter boat captain, out of Milwaukee I believe.

Anyone hear anything?

I am not the organizer of the event, but merely a participant.  And being a participant, what's good for the festival is good for me. 

If you haven't been to Pirate Fest in the past, this year may be your last chance. 

For reasons I wont pretend to fully understand, the woman who began Pirate Festival is having trouble finding a decent location for her store.  It seems there is lots of available floor space for rent in the downtown, but for whatever reason, she can't find anything suitable.  If she has to close her store, Pirate Fest will close as well. 

This would be a shame.  I admit when it first began, I thought it was a dumb idea.  An entire festival dedicated to Pirates?  I've been proven wrong.  There were approximately 20,000 visitors last year.  That number is expected to increase this year.  In fact, anyone who waited till the last minute to reserve a spot in the marina for their boat, may be out of luck.  It's beyond full!

June 6-8 2008.  Port Washington, Wisconsin

I pay child support for a child.  And I'm supposed to be receiving child support for another child. 

Both orders (as payor and payee) are out of Sheboygan County.

I live in Washington County.  If I fall behind in my obligation, I end up with 2 Washington County Sheriffs at my door with an arrest warrant.  I don't mean that I'm years behind, I'm talking about 2 or 3 missed payments.

The one who is supposed to paying support to me, lives in Milwaukee County.  He hasn't paid me any support since the order went into affect in June of 2007.

Curently, there is a warrant for his arrest that was issued in March. 

He has been in Milwaukee County court for a different case two times since Sheboygan county issued the warrant.  And both times, it appears he was able to walk out of the courthouse. 

I admit, he may not be easy to track down as he seems to keep ending up without a permanent address and tends to drift around between friends, and from what I've heard, he works for cash.  Unlike me, who has been at the same address for 10 years.

And I'm sure that it's when the Sheriffs dept in Washington County runs out of things to do, that they go out and round up the people with warrants.  I'm pretty sure the Police and Sheriffs Dept in Milwaukee County don't usually run out of things to do and tracking down someone whose crime is money related and not violent probably isn't a top priority.

However, isn't there some sort of statewide system that would allow someone with a warrant to be picked up when they walk into court?  If he were pulled over for speeding, he would be hauled away because the warrant would show up when they call in his license.  But when he walks into a courthouse with a warrant over his head, nothing happens???

This may sound like a dumb question, but what does one wear to a show at the Milwaukee Theater? 

The last "live" show I saw in Milwaukee was a rock concert about 20 yrs ago. 

We have tickets for the Lion King this month, and since it's a boring rained/iced/snowed-in day, I figured I'd find something to wear for the show, then I realized I have no idea what is appropriate. 

Both my husband and I are generally dressed in jeans and t-shirt. Me for comfort, him because it's really all he owns! 

I don't want to show up and look like a slob compared to everyone else, but I also don't want to go too far the other way either. 

Any help or advice---much appreciated!!!

I can't believe the family of the doctor who was killed by the wheel that came off a semi. 

They may have never known how the truck driver was or who he worked for, if not for the honesty of the trucking company.  And so, in an attempt to be honest and help solve the investigation.....they get sued. 

How nice. 

The truck driver is 66 yrs old?  How lucky for him, he can begin his retirement by having to worry that any savings he may have or any pension he's eligible for may soon be going to the widow of a Doctor. 

But at least now he might qualify for some of the state and county programs that WE ALL pay for.  Think about it. He could end up broke.  As if he doesn't feel bad enough already, lets take away everything from him.  He could probably find some low-income government run housing. Get food from food pantries.  Probably even qualify for government insurance.

I truely believe that it is possible the truck was checked and inspected when it was supposed to be.  But just because there was nothing wrong 30 days prior, doesn't mean something could start to crack or break.  What if the cause of the problem was in an area inside the wheel where you can't see it? 

I was in a car accident once with my husband and 3 small children. My youngest was in a car seat, ended up with a mouthfull of glass. My daughter in her booster seat had her chin cut by the car seat of her younger brother and my other son had a laceraded liver-caused by the seat belt he was wearing.  The guy who hit us, ran through a stop sign and T-boned us, and let me tell you, I WAS PISSED.  

He was speeding, not paying attention and slammed into my car with my kids ages 2,4 and 5.

My kids were bleeding and screaming and scared. My son ended up in Childrens Hospital for a week.

But the guy who hit us, apologized.  He sincerely felt horrible and wanted to be sure everyone was ok.   

I didn't sue him.  He didn't have insurance anyway.  And dumb me, neither did I.

However, I was the parent with the injured children.  So, the state decided they should sue me on my childrens behalf. 

How nice.

I don't like to lump everyone into one category, but I still have to believe the family of a doctor probably has money.  I didnt have money.  And I no longer had a car, as it was totaled in the crash.  

Maybe the lesson here is;;;;;;if it looks like you got away with it, keep your mouth shut!!  Find a way to ease your guilt that doesn't involve a confession or admittance to anything. 

I think it's a real shame.  I thought it was such a great thing when the trucking company came forward. Now, I wish for their sake, they wouldn't have!!
