How very Christian of you to offer to neuter Barack Obama. I hope you are proud of yourself.

Is there any wonder why the Black community is so screwed up when this is what is considered as "leadership"? Jackson has never been one to push for civility, or the expectation of Blacks to take responsibility for their actions when it is so much easier to blame all of the problems faced by Blacks on the "domination" of power on Whites, so I am not surprised by his comments here. It does however make me wonder what he says about Bill Cosby's outspoken views.

Well, here is the moment, forever captured: I think it clearly is an expression of his "true feelings". And note to self: NEVER, EVER ASSUME A MIKE/CAMARA IS OFF WHEN YOU ARE IN A STUDIO

I would further add, this "talking down" to black people Mr. Jackson is referring to a speech given by Mr. Obama on Fathers Day in which he speaks about faith based initiatives and a lack of accepting personal responsibility on the part of far too many African American fathers.

Earwig please tell me your definition of the black community.

I only get irritated by phrases like the black community, just because I think it's a very unrealistic depiction of the wide array of blacks in America. You can't just paint everyone of African descent the same color. Just like there are varying and unrelated types of every other race out there. Because I'm not poor and deprived of good moral values.

Show me an exception to the blacks that I have met in Milwaukee and I may change my opinion. In my opinion, there may be a good reason why Obama had to "talk down" to black people. I have had to do the same. Not that I wanted to, but it seemed that it was the only way to convey direction. If another method would have worked, I would have used it.

Many blacks do not understand "personal responsibility" and they seem to be incapable of understanding the concept, and that is why the black community IN GENERAL is in the very sad condition it is in today.

You have to understand that we all generalize to make our points. That is part of communication. Each race seems to have its qualities that stand out for the rest of us to observe. That is life. And that is our individual truth as we know it.

This Black community is rich in self-love, culture, beauty & wisdom.

Jessie Jackson is jealous of Obama,

...on the otherhand he should be "envious"

and grateful, because his works have helped to pave the way for Obama to have this great opportunity to make history!

Regardless of race, we are all one. I will not vote for Oboma, because he just come out of no where. Who is this dood? The church he was in, He did'nt know they were racest? They all blow off hot air. By me saying that I mean all who are running for president. I'm undesided on my vote because I need to do my homework.

bigperm, I'm referring to the area where all of the violence occurs, and those who perpetrate the terror against their neighbors. I'm talking about "leaders" like Jackson, McGee,(both Senior, and Junior) Holloway, and the like who do nothing for their constituents other than justify their bad behavior, and get them Government handouts. When the Black community begins to elect leaders who call for self reliance, and personal responsibility, that is when I will believe real change is possible. Obama is not that leader as his record clearly shows. It's time to throw off the shackles of poverty that Government assistance assures, and allow the Black community to work unfettered by Government oversight, mandates, regulation, and within the laws of commerce. There are a lot of good, hard working people in the Black community. They are the ones to emulate, not the thugs, drug dealers, and corrupt, self serving politicians.

There may be plenty of self love, beauty, and wisdome within the Alfrican American community. But, there is also plenty of dependence, single parent families & babies making babies, HS dropouts, and you people whose main asperation is to be a professional athlete.......education is completely devalued. Those social conditions lead to lower standards of living and underachievement within the community.

I find it ironic that anytime you get an African Americans start to talk about personal resonsibility and self reliance within the African American community that they are attacked by other members of the African American community. Bill Cosby for example. I applaud Mr. Obama for speaking out about this issue, and hope he meant what he said.

Because IF Mr. Obama is elected President, he will have the opportunity to really impact polices which created dependence and poverty within the African American community.

It's perfectly fine to say the white community but stay away from saying black community cause that means your a racist and generalize all black people as bad. I'm tired of this crap.

I would like to know why, when a white person says anything at all, it is right away pushed into the inappropriate category??? I am wondering that because black people can say whatever, whenever about white people and it doesn't matter.

If we want to start working towards better race relations I think the black community should stop segregating itself from white people, and turning everything said and done into something it's not and automatically playing the race card!!

Oh and by segregating I mean.....BLACK.E.T, The congressional BLACK caucus, BLACK colleges, United Negro fund and other BLACK only organizations and funds. Let me put together a White.E.T and see how fast myself and my network are pegged as bigots and racist's.

As far as Mr. Jackson goes....He has no relevance to anything, he is just a talking head that the dems. use to get black votes and is extremely jealous of Mr. Obama cause he's taking all the spotlight away and can't accomplish what Obama already has.

How true - the Rev. Jackson is jealous indeed. Can anyone think of a bigger camera hog than Jackson? Any controversy involving an African American was an opportunity for Jesse baby to show up and get his mug on TV. He and Al Sharpton must have tons of frequent flier miles from their travels hither and yon to be "the voice" of the black community in L.A., N.Y. and all points in between. Now here comes Barak and the news media falling all over themselves to make nice with him. Jesse and Al are pushed completely out of the picture. How sad for them but how grand for the rest of us.

It is my hope that this will signal a turn for the better. Perhaps Cosby and Obama will become the new voices (much better role models!). The Jacksons and the Sharptons have outlived their usefulness and are so yesterday.

Jackson, and Sharpton never had a "useful" purpose, and Obama is right there with them. They are about guilting Caucasians into submission, and I for one refuse to be ashamed of my heritage. Nothing in this world is 100% right, and equal, but I don't blame anyone else for my position in the grander scheme of things. Once people realize hard work and a conviction to self sufficiency will get them farther than begging, and stealing, we'll all be better off.
If someone has a problem with where I live and what I have because I chose to pay attention in school, and worked hard once out of school, TOUGH. In America we all have the same opportunities(well not really because Whites are legally discriminated against, but I'll say it for the sake of argument) and it's what you do with those opportunities that make the difference.

Will the white race rise up and fight submission and define their rightful place in the universe?

Earwig - you're right on. I really get a kick out of folks complaining about MPS and the drop out rate. Well guess what - a high school degree from MPS is one heck of a lot better that dropping out. I only have a high school education but I did pay attention and get decent grades. Lot's of hard work and long hours have resulted in a relatively comfortable retirement for me and the Mrs. Jesse and Al seem to think the government is the answer but guess what - they are dead wrong and have been for many years. I hope Bill Cosby and Barak Obama wake up some folks and the "entitlement mentality" will come to an end.

If you want to blame somebody for the lifestyles in the black community ,blame those who thought they were helping .The poor black mother that recieved free housing as long as the father didnt live there changed the way black families lived .How was seperating them going to help .Mothers that couldnt find jobs had more babies to increase their incomes .Single mothers became the norm in the city.Male role models were replaced with street thugs willing to show some city kid how to make some cash .Whats normal in the suburbs is not the same in the inner city.Earning some money to buy a bike is not the same as earning some money to survive .We broke up the black family thinking it would help .Maybe we should stop trying to help so much .

Obama benefited in the long run from the "hot-mike" comment.

It obviously dissociates any ties or allegiences to Jessie Jackson....or the stereotypical Al Sharpton.

crobsid52,....you nailed the root of the problem!... federal & state-aid programs have done more harm than good.....because it creates a mindset to take-take-take.

I would like to be able to say that I am a suburban dweller working 40 hours a week with an SUV and 2.2 children and I have spare time in which I golf. However, none of that is true. I would just LIKE to say that. So I did.
