Much has been written about Mexican immigration.  Let's look for the real cause here. WHY do Mexicans come to the US? They come here for jobs and for a better way of life.   What is the Mexican government doing to improve life in Mexico? Why doesn't the US government contact the Mexican government and arrange to have their people transported back home? Why don't people blame the Mexican government instead of the Mexican people who come to the US for work to support their famlies?  It seems that a lot of blame has been misplaced here.

If you were in Mexico with a famly and your family was hungry and you lived in a one-room mud hut wouldn't YOU be finding a way to the United States?  I would.

The point is  - don't blame people for trying to improve their lives. Blame the Mexican government for their policies.

And blame our government for NOT controlling immigration years ago.

Blame our government for NOT calling on the Mexican government and holding the Mexican government responsible for their role in what is now OUR immigration problem.

Our government continues to drag its feet. Blame our government for not addressing these issues  timely and finally getting something accomplished.

I agree that illegal means illegal.

Let's get at the root cause and work with that.

Dude I don't know if you noticed, but the bloggers on the site are 100% against the act of illegal immigration.

Yes I can blame these people for the problem. It makes sense to try to give your family the best life they can have. But there's a right and a wrong way to do things. These people are doing it the very wrong way. And just because they don't like the path to citizenship currently set up. Nobody said these Mexicans can't come to America, everyone is just pissed because they continue to screw over the system and taxpayers and then have the gull to ask for sympathy.

sorry man I don't feel sorry for these folks.

I would however accept Mexico as a US Territory. Kind of like a Puerto Rico. So we can fix it up ourselves.

Ok, so the people who do it the wrong way, how are they getting a better life? They can't get decent jobs. They can't get health insurance. They have to try to make ends meet for their families still on almost nothing. How is that better? I have no problem with immigration, but LEGAL immigration. That is how my family ended up here and that is how every family who needs to or wants to should end up here. If they are comming illegally, they aren't comming to get a better life, they are comming to live off the government and do as little as possible to be actual citizens here. They don't try to learn OUR language, they don't know our history and they don't care. That is my problem. Yes it is good for us to know different languages, but where does it end? What if we had a surge of chinese illegal immigrants? Now do we all have to speak chinese and let them live off of our government while we work and watch our tax dollars go to them? NO. If they really want a better life, then they will learn the language, get educated (and they will qualify for grants so no excuses) and they will contribute to society rather than suck it dry.
And I don't want to sound harsh, but I just think that if they really want a better life, they will do it the right way. That is how you improve.

I know this one person whom is from Mexico. She is legal over here. She is a worker and holds two jobs. Well come next year she is going to retire and move back to Mexico. She told me that the american dollar over there goes a whole lot farther. My question is, Does she get Social Security if she moves over there? I never asked her. Same with people who come from Canida, How does that work? I would love to visit Mexico and Canida. A nother question is Simon Cowll is from UK and he lives six months here and six months over there. How does that work? This realy interest me a lot. Please let me know.

dude seriously guys let's just take over mexico and run it the right way. It'll only take 20 years to get rid of the resistance. They don't have an army, well one that is worth preparing for. A country devoted to tourism. That'd be awesome.

"..the bloggers on the site are 100% against the act of illegal immigration." ~~ Please speak for yourself only. Not saying that I agree with it but please don't put us all in one group.

"dude seriously guys let's just take over mexico and run it the right way." ~~ ROFLMAO, this country can't even get their own BLEEP straight!

"What if we had a surge of chinese illegal immigrants? Now do we all have to speak chinese and let them live off of our government while we work and watch our tax dollars go to them?" ~~ Isn't that what the Hmong do to?

Mexicans are not the only ones who try to come over here. Just tonight I saw on a show how a boat load of cubans tried to come over. Many others from various other nationalities try to, but let's just jump all over the Mexicans. (yeah, i'm sure i'll get bashed for this because i don't follow everything that everyone else does)

Okay derr MidniteSkye. We're all getting a little silly on this blog, just because everyone has argued their points in a very serious fashion in other blog posts. Don't stress yourself tying to be smarter than everyone else. There's no bashing needed.

Everyone (not just myfox bloggers) jumps on the Mexican thing, because they're are the most vocal group of illegals out there. I'm sure you've heard press 2 for Spanish. I don't hear a press three for Hmong on every customer service menu. There aren't Hmong street signs and billboards. There most likely are Hmong bilingual teachers. Which I don't agree with. Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth languages should be a choice. Just look on the governments website. Learning english is a requirement of being an American citizen. But yeah that's why everyone jumps on that particular group.

On a side note. Has anyone here ever drove on Cesar Chavez dr.?? Omg I hate that street sooooo freakin much. It's crazy man. I take that street to take my sister to work. For some reason all the dumbest drivers in all of Milwaukee seem to drive that road and do the craziest things!!! idk, I guess it's hard to understand if you don't drive that road almost everyday.

What makes me even more curious is how do the people from Arab and Indian countries come here and buy gas stations and corner grocery stores so eaily? Why do they get taxbreaks for years? Why do they own a business and are allowed citizenship and yet the Mexicans have to hide and work for under minimum wage?

Many illegal immigrants are coming through MEXICO - not only Mexicans. Many Asian illegals are coming through Mexico. This blog addresses Mexican immigrants specifically, but certainly, there are many other illegals in this country as well. People smuggling has become big business for Mexico.

Yes, you can collect Social Security checks and retirement AND disability checks if you live in Mexico. You just need at US financial institution. And yes, the US dollar does go a WHOLE LOT farther in Mexico than in our own country. Who knows? All of us may have to take what money we have and live south of the border very soon the way the economy is going in this country!

You know what's funny?
People complain and complain about the illegal Mexicans because they say they are taking jobs from Americans and yet, all I see them doing is washing dishes, prepping food and cleaning floors.
People say they cause more violence, but all I hear on the news are stories of legal Americans committing crimes. I have heard maybe two or three reports of an illegal committing a crime while I have heard about hundreds of Americans.
People say they take the taxfree $2 or $3 an hour they earn and sent it back home and that is wrong. Really? So if they send $100 a week back home and live in over-stuffed apartments eating rice and tortillas that's a crime?
There are so many worse situations. This sounds like prejudice against Mexicans to me.

Kat if you ever visit a construction jobsite you'll see the jobs taken from american workers .Landscapers.roofers ,drywallers insulaters ,painters ,all taken over by mexicans .They work them long hours and provide no benifits to them .OSHA must look the other way because i never see them wearing safety lines or respairators .As far as crime and violence any area that has alot of absentee landlords and a majority of mexicans living there is VIOLENT AND CRIME INFESTED .You can call it racist but i call it reallity.

I simply love this blog. I am hearing all kinds of comments that reflect a strong emotion for it's writers. Each one makes debate like points and adds different angles of the subject.

But I also know that there are many new people of Legal and Illegal status living amongst us. Wisconsin has seen it's population grow and business leave. One of the ways that we have seen this is the dramatic increase in the cost of Health Insurance. Emergency rooms that care for those without insurance are doing so on our tax dollars. Legal or not. So it isn't so much only about the Mexican Migration to our state, but the way our system was set up that never thought about this scenario.
Make it easier for people to become a legal citizen. Work Visa's are issued to those who follow the rules and work towards their citizenship. The pay taxes. And English is a requirement to become one.

Change the law, the we change the path.

Maybe they should go after the businesses that hire them. I would imagine most of these men are untrained in the field they are hired in, but the owner hires them because he can pay them low wages and no medical. They wouldn't get this work if the business wouldn't hire them.
As I pointed out earlier, we have many different nationalities here. Many of whom are not here legally. Why are the Mexicans the only ones people seem angered by?

I wrote Herb Kohl about this once and he said- Quote "We can't deport them all because we don't have the funds". I wrote back and said, "Where is the American can-do attitude? A famous WW2 guy used to ship people in train cars."
Now, instead of stuffing them in like cattle, I figure you could put VERY comfortably about 24 bunk beds per rail car, completely carpeted with modular bathrooms and snack bar stocked with plenty of food, water- whatever- a buffet.
24 people per car, and every 5th car in the train would be for attendants and security. 150 cars per train (100 of them for illegals, 50 security). That's 2400 illegals per load, at say 5 loads a day, that's 12,000 people a day. Seven days...84,000 people. Thirty days...360,000 illegals! PROBLEM SOLVED in THIRTY DAYS!

SO let me ask you this question, folks.

Why doesn't the government start to deport illegals en masse? They could! What's in it for our government NOT to deport these people?

Can you imagine what would happen if they did that??? It is all about the almighty vote and doing that would make them look bad. Kat said something up a few posts about the only jobs they can get is dishwashing.... That is what I was talking about. They come here, get jobs that don't pay enough to support a family, so how is it better here? I don't care if you are Mexican or something else. If they are not legal, then they are NOT legal. The government is very selective about what they enforce. I can't just speed down a street and expect the cop NOT to give me a ticket, but yet they can be in this country illegaly and expect NOT to be sent home.

I would like to be able to say that I am a suburban dweller working 40 hours a week with an SUV and 2.2 children and I have spare time in which I golf. However, none of that is true. I would just LIKE to say that. So I did.
