Ok, those of you who know anything about me know I'm a huge fan of the Wisconsin Badgers having graduated from there in 1986 (although the University has asked me to say I went elsewhere!).

But I'm also a Big Ten fan having grown up blocks away from Dyche Stadium (home of the Northwestern Wildcats) and having several siblings and in-laws graduate from the University of Illinois.  I actually rooted for the Blue and Orange before falling in love with the Cardinal and White. Anyway.....

One of the things I like about Illini fans is a little thing they do when they see other fans wearing Illinois t-shirts or sweat shirts. The first person to notice the other yells "I-L-L..."...and the other person yells, "...I-N-I". It spells, of course, Illini.  When it works, it's kind of fun. When it doesn't...it goes over like a fart in church.

So today I'm at the grocery store and I see this woman wearing sweatshirt that says "University of Illinois" on it. As she passes me, I look at her and say "I-L-L...." and then....silence. More than silence. I got a look from her that was about the same look I would have been given if I said, "Hey lady..want to go over to the produce aisle and make out?" It was the most uncomfortable part of my day.

But the day is still young.

do you actually say "ILL" or do you say the intials?

It would cause strange looks to say "ill" to someone out of the blue if they didn't know the secret code.

Actually that picture was taken moments after the 1994 Rose Bowl. The Badgers had just upset UCLA and those two wouldn't leave me alone until I took a picture with them.

ted_perry---great posting of this blog!! but may i warn you that you will be pissed off about the game against indiana on saturday. the game against indiana is on the big ten network, which you can only get on satalite. i know that really pisses me off royaly. my ma will be at the game on saturday and i will be stuck listening to the game on NEWSTALK AM 1450 KFIZ out of fond du lac. there are no places in the eden area that has satalite that will carry the badger game. i would watch the game online on www.bigtennetwork.com, but they have no audio feed. that also pisses me off royaly. ted_perry, i only want to hear from you only on this comment.

Okay, I actually read through it now that I've got the initial emotion out of my system.

That is awwwwwwkwarddddddddd . . .

I hate those moments. Cuz it's like, you want to explain them, but if you start they just look at you like you're even weirder. So you just kinda do the wavy thing with your hand and try to smile and walk away.

aaro-nf,

I wasn't aware it was only on BT Network (which I clearly don't get). I'll have to listen to Matt Lepey(sp?) who I think does a fantastic job with Badger games. I have a lot of work to do around the house so it's probably better I just keep the radio on.

Also, if you don't mind me saying, I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. Keep praying the Rosary.

you might be lucky to get the AM station out of fond du lac. that is 1450 KFIZ. i trust them over WTMJ 620. whenever i listen to WTMJ, they never have the badger gamse on. they always have another game on that channel. so i reccomend that you listen to KFIZ out of fond du lac. i hope you can get that station out of fond du lac all the way down from milwaukee. it would be a miracle.

let me say this though, ted_perry, the big ten network is starting to piss me off royaly. i am pissed that charter communications is not carrying the btn for the fond du lac service area(excluding waupun and south). i believe that charter commmunications is still negotiating with the big ten network. i was going to watch the game online today, but they have no audio or video feed. that pisses me off royaly as well.

also, thank you for the kind words of encouragement. that will help me and my family get through this tough time of suffering. this is where the power of prayer really comes into play, especially during this time of suffering. i was on the phone with my dad for close to 12 minutes just talking about my uncle. he is only 48, and i can't believe that his body is rejecting the chemo. i am keeping my fingers crossed for the next 3 weeks to see if there is any improvement.

i would like to see julie_feldman do a complete story on stomach cancer and its research. one question i have for julie_feldman is this: what is the next option for someone who has stomach cancer? are there any kinds of medication out there for that kind of cancer?

the badgers take on ohio state on the big ten network. that game is on at 11 saturday morning. i may watch the game on www.uwbadgers.com if they carry the game live on that website. i wanted to watch the game against indiana on yahoo.com on their sports section. i clicked on the gamechannel feature, clicked the video section so i can watch the game, and i keep getting a message that it was unavailable. pissed me off royaly.
