Happy 4th!

I am looking forward to this 4th of July more than the last few because for the first time this year we're going to the fireworks!  With my crazy hours, I haven't be able to go in years past but this year the whole Haswell family will be taking in the festivities because it's on a Friday!

That plus the fact that my kids will be in the parade in our little town as part of the T-ball league makes this an extra fun 4th for us.

Interestingly our very first 4th of July here in the U.S. was rather uneventful.  Not because we didn't feel like a part of the holiday but more because we really didn't know what to expect and where to go for fun! 

At the time we'd only been living "south of the border" - as we Canadians say - for about 6 months so we didn't know too many local folks.  Up to that point, our only expereience with Independance Day was via popular television shows and movies!  That of course gave us a rather enhanced view of what happens on the fourth.  We didn't expect to have to make any plans what-so-ever!  We thought we'd just step out the front door and there'd be parties on every corder!  I think we kind of exptected to go to sleep on the 3rd and wake up to a bunting clad. red white and blue holiday on the 4th!  Of course that didn't happen but it's a fun little story that we look back on these many years later.

That goes for me as well.

I know you're not going to make it Downtown to the Lake to watch the fireworks in person because we know you be up early in the morning and after you leave you're probably straight in the bed as soon as you get home to get some rest.

Instead of the fireworks, i checked out Will Smith in the movie "Hancock".....funny.

Hope you had a great 4th. The 3rd fireworks are fantastic. Did you see them? If not thats something to see.

Happy 4th! Hope you enjoyed the fireworks. Had a chance to see the ones downtown for the first time live by Bradford Beach (parking was free!). AWESOME SHOW!

On July 3rd I went to the fire works in Sturtavet. We parked by Drift Wood restrant and stayed in our car and enjoyed it while we ate popcorn. When it was done, we left right away with out the ruch of traffic. We got home five minuts later and went to chanel 6 for an hour more of excitment. Thank you Fox 6 for the coverage of Milwaukee fireworks. Next year I would like to camp out for the fireworks in Milwaukee. I went to Racine's fireworks and it took two hours to get home. Normaly it takes aboout 15 minuts from my house to the north beach.

A long, long, time ago in a farmers field far, far away, Rob noticed a change in the wind and became fascinated with the weather. Why you ask? (Pause for you to say "why?") Well, it was at that moment he realized he was downwind of the manure pile on the turkey farm where he grew up! After that he watched the weather very carefully in an effort to save his sense of smell! Okay, that's not entirely true but I did grow up on a turkey farm and I have been fascinated with weather and broadcasting for quite some time. I began my career in radio before making the jump to TV. I worked on Good Morning Toronto. After that, I decided to pursue my dream of living and working in the U.S. and joined Wake Up Rochester in Rochester NY. I spent three years in "Bills Country" before coming to my senses and moving to "Packer-Town!" (GO PACK!) I also spent some time trying to make it big as a comic actor and studied the art of improvisation at Toronto's Second City Theatre with teachers like SCTV's Joe Flaherty! I moved here with my beautiful wife, Tanya, who's the real comedian in the family, my son Noah, who's giving my wife a run for the title of funniest Haswell and my daughter Nyla who is the cutest 2 feet of human being you could ever meet! We're very excited to be living in the great city of Milwaukee and we're looking forward to learning all there is to know about Wisconsin! By the way, where do you buy those cheesehead hats anyway?
