Okay, time to wade into the AI fray and have my say.

The boys were great this week! David Archuleta is amazing! I also found a new love of Chickezie, who I didn't like at all at first. He won me over this week.

The women were very weak! Okay, not all of them but they are not nearly as strong as the men have been so far.

I think Amanda Overmyer should go.

She has never really impressed me. Janis Joplin impersonators are a dime a dozen and I don't think she really ever showed she could do anything else. She'd be a good front person for a bar band but she doesn't have what it takes to be the Idol. Her performance was never on note and I think the judges were pretty easy on her considering. And what was with the hair?!

She strikes me as a bit of a pretender or a poser and I put high value on being genuine.

IF she survives, she'll have to either dive into the Joplin stuff 100% and own it or show she can do something else all together.

Who do you think should go?

Hi Rob,

Great post. I agree with Simon. Archuleta is the individual to beat in the competition. I'm a lyricist and it would be wonderful if I could find someone of his stature to sing the vocals to future works/projects that might receive air play in the future. As for me, I agree with Randy and Paula. I have never heard a better job done on the vocals to "Imagine". AMAZING! Chickezie was pretty cool too. Compared to the men, the women need to REALLY step it up. Amanda "Overkill" is a one trick pony. She's proven she cannot sing anything outside of blues stuff or Joplin. I would not mind seeing her go as well the individual who does a stand-up Britney impersonation, and perhaps Asia (poor impersonation of a diva). On the men's side, I don't think it really matters. Clearly Archuletta is in the driver's seat and unless he completely bombs, as far as I'm concerned, they should just give him the award now.

I haven't watched American Idol lately, but I heard the women are doing better than the guys. Telling by this picture, I don't know what could happen to her, but I know one thing; looking at the person picture is giving me the creeps. She looks like something between the Osbournes and the Addams Family. She looks like someone who needs to return to a haunted mansion.

It made me sick that Amanda Overmyer was not kicked off tonight. I didn't like her from day one. She is to rock star for me. I too think that she would be better in a bar some place else. Far far away.

Is it just me, or does Amanda look confused or constipated when she's singing? She should never have gotten this far.

Ick.

And that HAIR!?!? BLEEP????

I call Amanda Overmyer (skunk girl) when I am talking to my husband. That is how we know who we are talking about to each other. hahahahaha

I'm all for a rocker girl on AI, but Amanda is so one-note. She's going to get very boring after all, if not already.

Yah I agree with you when you say she is getting boring. If she would of had her voice no something except shouting. I'm not a music major but it don't take one to know she is just shouting.

A long, long, time ago in a farmers field far, far away, Rob noticed a change in the wind and became fascinated with the weather. Why you ask? (Pause for you to say "why?") Well, it was at that moment he realized he was downwind of the manure pile on the turkey farm where he grew up! After that he watched the weather very carefully in an effort to save his sense of smell! Okay, that's not entirely true but I did grow up on a turkey farm and I have been fascinated with weather and broadcasting for quite some time. I began my career in radio before making the jump to TV. I worked on Good Morning Toronto. After that, I decided to pursue my dream of living and working in the U.S. and joined Wake Up Rochester in Rochester NY. I spent three years in "Bills Country" before coming to my senses and moving to "Packer-Town!" (GO PACK!) I also spent some time trying to make it big as a comic actor and studied the art of improvisation at Toronto's Second City Theatre with teachers like SCTV's Joe Flaherty! I moved here with my beautiful wife, Tanya, who's the real comedian in the family, my son Noah, who's giving my wife a run for the title of funniest Haswell and my daughter Nyla who is the cutest 2 feet of human being you could ever meet! We're very excited to be living in the great city of Milwaukee and we're looking forward to learning all there is to know about Wisconsin! By the way, where do you buy those cheesehead hats anyway?
