Okay, I am not a restaurant reviewer, and this is NOT a free plug for a local place but I have to say that my family enjoyed a night out to dinner last night.

With two kids (3 and 5) we don't go to restaurants that don't sell McFood very often.  Not because our kids misbehave but because they'll only eat a burger or chicken strips anyway so why pay more than the dollar menu prices!  Also, my wife and I are frequently dissatisfied when we do dine out.  You know I'm cheap... er thrifty ... well, I look like a big spender next to my wife and we feel that when you spend a few more bucks on dinner vs. you basic McFood place you should see the difference in service and food quality and with one of two exceptions, we're frequently disappointed.

On our reliable list are Olive Garden, Ponderosa and the County Buffet and we can now at Texas Roadhouse Grill!

We were blown away by the service and the food!  Add to that the fact that the prices were actually quite reasonable!  You know I like the free stuff and here you get free peanuts and warm bread with a cinnamon butter!  Yummy!  The steaks were perfect and the kids enjoyed their meals too - yes still a burger and chicken nuggets.

The topper was the dancing!  My little girl LOVES to dance ( she looks a bit like Elaine when she does but she loves it ) and the staff dancing fascinated her!  She insisted on dancing our way out of there!

It was a good night out for the Haswell!  Hope you have similar nights with your family this holiday weekend!

We love Texas Roadhouse!
It's a lot of fun and you are right, the food is great. The first time we went the dancing was a pleasant surprise.
I even bought a gift certificate for my in-laws anniversary.
For the holiday weekend we grill burgers, brats and , of course, hot dogs for the little ones.

Texas Roadhouse is our favorite restaurant, but we don't go very often, since the nearest one is in West Bend. They have the best ribs, and their sauteed veggies are always yummy. We just wish they hadn't gotten rid of the garlic smashed potatoes. They came with the skins mixed in and were out of this world!

Hey Rob did you know when it's your b/day there they come and sing and make you sit on a saddle?? It's really funny. Did all the waitstaff line dance too when you were there??
I love the side salad because it's so cold and crunchy! My son asks for those rolls over and over too and they keep bringing them. Fun place plus if you don't want to wait you can call ahead and they will reserve a seat for you. Yee Haa!!

Lovinlife, yeah, I forgot to mention the birthday thing. The last time we went, it was my birthday, and my dear husband had to tell the server! Next thing I knew, I was sitting on the saddle, whipping a napkin around like a lasso and yelling "yeehaw!". Then I had to pretend my hands were guns, shoot in the air while saying, "Bang, bang! Today's my birthday!" I felt like such a geek, but I figured if I had to make a fool of myself, I might as well do it right. I think half the place heard me. LOL!

Now, I can see Rob having a blast doing this on his birthday. When IS your birthday, Rob? Maybe we'll take up a collection to treat you to the Texas Roadhouse, and we'll have to make sure the Fox6 remote is there. hehehehehe

A long, long, time ago in a farmers field far, far away, Rob noticed a change in the wind and became fascinated with the weather. Why you ask? (Pause for you to say "why?") Well, it was at that moment he realized he was downwind of the manure pile on the turkey farm where he grew up! After that he watched the weather very carefully in an effort to save his sense of smell! Okay, that's not entirely true but I did grow up on a turkey farm and I have been fascinated with weather and broadcasting for quite some time. I began my career in radio before making the jump to TV. I worked on Good Morning Toronto. After that, I decided to pursue my dream of living and working in the U.S. and joined Wake Up Rochester in Rochester NY. I spent three years in "Bills Country" before coming to my senses and moving to "Packer-Town!" (GO PACK!) I also spent some time trying to make it big as a comic actor and studied the art of improvisation at Toronto's Second City Theatre with teachers like SCTV's Joe Flaherty! I moved here with my beautiful wife, Tanya, who's the real comedian in the family, my son Noah, who's giving my wife a run for the title of funniest Haswell and my daughter Nyla who is the cutest 2 feet of human being you could ever meet! We're very excited to be living in the great city of Milwaukee and we're looking forward to learning all there is to know about Wisconsin! By the way, where do you buy those cheesehead hats anyway?
