This weekend is Veteran's Day and in Canada it's called Remembrance Day. Essentially it is the same holiday. It is a time to remember the sacrifice our military has made to help keep us free and safe.
I want to take a moment to thank all the men and women who serve this country now and who have served the United States in the past. As a new immigrant to this great country, I am very proud of the work our troops do everyday for us overseas and right here at home.
Thank You.
I would also like to take a moment to share the proud military history of my birth country - Canada. Because Canada is a small country by population ( just 32 million or about the same size as California ) very little is known about the history of the Canadian military and it's service.
Canadian troops served with distinction in both World Wars, the Korean War, the First Gulf War, as well as Bosnia and there are currently Canadian troops fighting in Afghanistan.
Canada is also where the concept of "Peace Keepers" was born. A former Prime Minister - Lester B. Pearson - was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for the concept that helped to end the Suez Crisis in 1956.

Thank you to all our veterans and to all of those around the world who are brave enough to stand up for peace and freedom.
