My last post prompted some great tips about keeping your skin hydrated during these cruel winter months AND keeping it looking young! (Thanks, Ladies, for the AWESOME tips!)

I'll never forget the conversation I had with a woman who used to do my nails. She was in her fifities but barely looked like she was pushing forty. I asked her what her secret was. You know what she said?

Bar soap.

She didn't use anything fancy. She said she always washes her face once in the morning and once at night with bar soap and that's all it takes.

I wonder if anyone else has great, inexpensive, easy ways to look and feel young. I'm all ears!

Having oily skin on my face, I use a special bar soap from MaryKay. But for my body, I do have the best success with this bar soap at trader joes. There are two bars for around $2.00's and it must have some moisturizer in it. Works better than the fancy Bath and Body Works liquid stuff I have that I just use because I like the smell.

Rub whipped cream and chocolate sauce all over your body and then have your significant other or blogger who suggests the idea work the concoction into your skin with their tongue.
Works for me, my skin is like a baby's butt and the applications are to die for!
Good luck!

Yumm! The whipped cream & chocolate sounds good maybe on my body but I'm not licking it off anyone!

My suggestion would be no sun, no smoking, no alcohol (maybe some wine :)) and moisturize, moisturize & moisturize again! I also take Oil Of Olay vitamins. Seems to work for me. At 48 I still have no wrinkles and at times people thought that my 30 year old daughter & myself were sisters. I think some people just have it in their genes & have better skin than others. My mother is 73 and still has no wrinkles-and she smokes, so go figure!

I think the key to feeling young is to stay young. Don't worry so much about the numbers. 40, 45, 50...who cares? Do you feel THAT old? If not, GREAT! If so, then you worry too much. Don/t let age determine your destination in life. Some people say "Gee, I'm 35 and I can't buy ANYTHING from the junior's section at Kohl's because I am too old and I don't want to look like a teeny-bopper." Get over it! If you feel good wearing it and you don''t think you look like an idiot, wear it! Or the women who say "Oh my gosh, I am 40...I can't wear tank tops or halter tops anymore. I need to look like a grandma now that I have grandkids." HORSE HOCKEY!!! If you still have a figure, flaunt it once in a while. 40 is not a death-sentence. If your hair looks good, your makeup looks good, you feel good about how your body looks, you are going to personify youth at it's best! Knock 'em dead! I am almost 45 years old and I refuse to let age determine how I feel or dress. Hey, I am no Anna Nicole Smith, but I aint no Joan Rivers either!

The "youthful look" we all seek, comes from within. If we feel good inside, it shines through.

Most of the moisturizers on the market have the same ingredients, mineral oil & water. I laugh at the people who think a really expensive face moisturizer is their ticket to younger looking skin! Your only throwing your money away. The way these companies have you believing this nonsense only puts more money in their pockets!

Angel that's so true...I buy Nivea or Neutrogena. They are cheap and work the same as all the more expensive names. I get a kick out of all celebs on the late night infomercials pushing "their" line of skin care. Dr. Phil's wife does the same thing. Hog Wash!! I've heard Robin McGraw say "This line is my favorite" at least 20 different times for 20 different products.
Look at Sofia Loren! She said she uses olive oil on her skin. Now that's a beautiful woman if I ever saw one. At 70 she still looks fantastic.

Since I am a graduate student, I am not a stranger to staying up till 2:00, sometimes 3:00 in the morning. As a result, I have a chance to view a panoply of infomercials featuring skin products prior to going to bed. Some of the best skin products that I have seen are Jayne Seymour's Natural Advantage and Cindy Crawford's Meaningful Beauty. I'm a male and therefore, I'm not the world's greatest expert when it comes to fashion products by any stretch of the imagination. I've never used these particular products, but from the testimonials they seem to be pretty effective (Cindy Crawford and Jayne Seymour use them and I find them to be quite attractive). Below are links to some websites that I think are two of the best:
