A Slice of Life

Ok, so I am watching Idol for like the third or fourth time, and here the final people are singing "Shout to the Lord"  How cool is that? We have to listen to them sing all different kinds of music and this is the first time I have heard a Christian song on the show. And it is one of my favorites so that is what made my ears perk up. I think it was from last nights fundraiser, but even if it was just put out there for the dollars to be donated, I don't care. It was put out there. Ok, I care a little, but in the end, it was awesome.

People tell us that we need to be more tolerant of different types of music, lifestyles, dress...... Many things. But the one thing is that whenever anything Christian is mentioned, people say that it is just wrong for people who don't believe in it or like it to be subjected to it, and here it is right there, out in the open on Idol.

I was listening to the radio last week and the DJ was talking about a night where there was a guest band who played and they were playing Christian music, and there was another song on that same night that was Christian.

I am glad that the producers of Idol didn't discriminate against that type of music. I think it is awesome that they put that out there to the many people who watch, and I am also willing to bet they get almost no complaints.

So Kudos to the producers of Idol!!!

I totally agree with you! It was soooo great!
I have been on quite a few blogs this morning already, and boy the comments are coming out of the woodwork!

Your thoughts Tracy:
"People tell us that we need to be more tolerant of different types of music, lifestyles, dress...... Many things. But the one thing is that whenever anything Christian is mentioned, people say that it is just wrong for people who don't believe in it or like it to be subjected to it....."

This is SO true, and I agree! sometimes I think CHRISTians are victims of reverse discrimination. I heard that Both Randy and Paula are both Jewish , They didnt seem to be having a problem with it!

I have also posted the video on my fox six blog....

By the way I think it actually was a Very good recording of the song! David Cook stood out in it beautifully!

You know I thought the same thing. I think it is great. They should keep it like this and have them sing a Christian song for the season. They all did a fantastic job at singing that song. Kudos to American Idol.

No one can sing that song with as much gusto as Darlene Zschech of Hillsongs. she wrote it and it is still a favorite of mine.

Umm, I like Darlene-Zschech, but I have found that there are versions I like a bit better. But in the end, it shares the message and it is all good no matter who sings it. I just thought it was totally awesome to see that on national tv. AND this is the second time this season they put Christian music in there. I did miss that show, but the DJ on K-love (formerly the FISH) in the afternoon was going on and on about it.

Ok, first things first. Here is Vanessa's link.
Shout to the Lord on Idol

Now, thank you everybody for your responses.

While I respect your opinion, I also have to disagree with you. Our money goes to the community, and to other countries. What I hate is when people ask for money and act as if you are not a good person if you don't give it.

So back to this topic. I hope that we can see more of that on more public stations. It is awesome to see people say "That was a Christian song" I love it.

I loved the christan songs on Idol. I bought some cds with that song on it. There needs to be more songs brought out from the christan faith.

There are lots of songs, but just not many on tv. We do have a new CCM radio station now. THE FISH is now K-Love 105.3. I miss the FISH but I am sooo glad that we have something and K-Love isn't a bad station. They just aren't local. That is the only downfall. And we don't have our old DJs either.

I am married to a great guy and a mom of three. Our kids are spread out in ages so we have one in preschool, one in first grade and one in his first year of middle school. We spend alot of time on soccer fields and in dance studios but I wouldn't trade that in for anything. My favorite day of the week is Sunday because that is family day. I also love Friday nights after the kids go to bed. We love to take long weekends just to get away. Usually we end up at waterparks, but we all love the water so it is great. I love to eat out. Without the kids is best, but we do go out for lunch as a family every Sunday. It is just our thing. I stay at home for the most part and spend my days working in my kids classrooms or just taking care of the every day things. I am here to meet other great people and moms like me.I write about my life because that is what I do. I love to share and while some people are all about politics or news.... My stage of life is all about me and my family. So most of my blogs are going to be just that. This year, we welcomed our very first foreign exchange student into our home. It has been both a challange and a blessing. I am happy to have him and practicing for when my own children get to be that age. I will admit that it is scary having a high school student as a child of mine because of the freedom I need to allow, but I am learning to let go and be watchful but not overbearing on him. This is going to be an interesting year..
