A Slice of Life

Just over a week left. Are you ready?

Are the gifts bought and wrapped? Did the cards go out? Is the meal planned? Are the cookies baked?  Did you schedule time for church?

Are you planning on meeting with family or friends? Did you remember to do something nice for somebody you don't know?

Do you have any wonderful traditions that you plan on passing down to your kids?

Our Christmas started with one of the best gifts that one could get. We got to meet my husband's son who is now 17 that he hasn't seen since birth. It was wonderful to see how the kids seemed to blend together so naturally. I got all I want for Christmas and they day isn't even here yet.

For those of you who are too stressed out. just relax and remember that it isn't all about the gifts given or recieved. Have a wonderful Christmas!!!!

I am not in the mood for all of this at all.
I sent out a few cards, most of the gifts are purchased and I just have to make a sidedish for my husband's family get together.
I just want it to be over.

Katbird, last year for Christmas day, I told everybody not to call me, not to come over and after we opened presents and had breakfast, I took the tree down. I am excited this year because I have my three kids plus I don't exactly what to call him. He has a mom and a birth mother, so I will just say, my husband's biological son.

Steve!! Nice to see you again. I still have to wrap and that is it too.

Tracy I'm not in the spitit this year but I'm making myself for my kids & grandkids. You know the old saying "If mama ain't happy, nobody is happy".

If it makes you feel any better we are having it on the 22nd so all the kids can go to their in-laws on the 24th & 25th so I'm running out of time here! I still have to shop (haven't bought one thing yet), figure out how many appetizers to make, clean, get 2 bedrooms ready for my son & his family, and wrap all those lovely gifts that are yet to be purchased. Oh and today I had to go to the dr. to find out I have strep. What I really WANT to do right now is go to have a hot cup of tea and go to bed but I don't think that's going to happen.

This too shall pass...( i hope.

I really want to cry when I'm this stressed but instead I just think of something funny. I had my grandson(3) the weekend and he went in my fridge and saw that I had egg nogg and yelled "hey black gramma you have winter milk".....(black because of my hair)....
So maybe tonight I'm have a shot of brandy with some winter milk before I go to bed..;)

Ooooops! I'm really not in the spirit if I can't even spell it right. Oh and nog instead of nogg.
Not a good day today!

I'm sorry MrsTracy....I become bitter and resentful....maybe envious too....now that my parents are dead. My brother lives in Florida and my older sister is, well....shall we say...locked up. I never got to know my Aunts, Uncles or cousins because my family was poor, so we were ignored. Sure, they try to talk to me now that I'm "better off", but screw them. Where were they when I was a vunerable child being beaten? so....anyway....I will feign happiness for my kids.

You know....honestly.....when you think about it....isn't life all about pretending?

A big show....a good act

The house has been decorated for about 3 weeks already. I got all the shopping done except for 1 present for my hubby and that I am getting Thursday. Every one is already wrapped and my cards are all made out and sent. Out of town package went out December 8th and we are good to go. I will be going to visit a friend that is housebound due to back surgery and a broken ankle. I am taking her some Quality Candy, now that would make anyone feel better!! I want to pass on the tradition of a old family recipe of Spanish Hamburgers to my daughters this year so they can take over that job next year!
Christmas is always very special to me. I love the company of all my family and friends. This year we are extra thankful for the birth of our new baby grandson Noah. Early by a little over 5 weeks but none the less he is a stout and hardy little guy and is doing very well.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all my blogging friends and everyone at Fox6!

The tree is up the gifts are bought. I am almost done with making the blankets(no sew)We are going by my BIL and his lady friend on the 22.I am bring the munchs like the desert platter, shrimp platter and chips and a few different dips.My siser will be here for Christmas. Both of my parents are also gone but I still love Christmas and all that it stands for. I will have my daughter with me this year last year she was in out of state. I know things have changed over the years kids grown up and some of the magic is gone but you know life is hard and sometimes we just have to make the best of it and thank god that we have what we have. I may not be rich with money but I am rich when it comes to my family who I love and my friends.
So yes I guess I am ready.

Wow, what a mixture here. Katbird, I think that Christmas Eve should be spend with just you and hubby under a blanket with the some really good hot cocoa and a movie. (but I do have to say church first it is my duty) You can be bitter, but sometimes it is great to make new traditions.

Lovinlife, go ahead and cry. I do that lots at this time of the year. And for the strep, at least it starts to feel better after day two of the antibiotics. (you should ask your doc for somthing to help you sleep. Say it is anxiety) then you can knock yourself out for a while and not feel a thing.

Aaron, go finish your shopping but keep it simple. Especially since you have a good grasp of the reason for the holiday.

Antmarta,I am sorry your daughter has to celebrate with current events on your mind, but you have a beautiful baby to celebrate with. Is he going to be home from the hospital?

Kim, you can drop off some of those desserts by my house too. I love Tiramisu. Especially if it is made right, but I am just too lazy.

Thank you, Mrs. Tracy!
but...I finished it at midnight, so I managed to get this picture up and then promptly feel asleep in my computer chair.
The only problems I have with real trees are the sap (I had to wash my hands with a scrubbing brush) and I'm allergic to the sap, so I have to be careful not to rub my eyes. My hands breakout with a slight rash, but it goes away and a little Benadryl stops the itch.
The boys loved it when they woke up this morning and it was done.
Please note the tree is right by my signed Brett Favre portrait from his second MVP award. I think it's appropriate.
Have a wonderful day my blogging buddies!!

MrsTracy

I am married to a great guy and a mom of three. Our kids are spread out in ages so we have one in preschool, one in first grade and one in his first year of middle school. We spend alot of time on soccer fields and in dance studios but I wouldn't trade that in for anything. My favorite day of the week is Sunday because that is family day. I also love Friday nights after the kids go to bed. We love to take long weekends just to get away. Usually we end up at waterparks, but we all love the water so it is great. I love to eat out. Without the kids is best, but we do go out for lunch as a family every Sunday. It is just our thing. I stay at home for the most part and spend my days working in my kids classrooms or just taking care of the every day things. I am here to meet other great people and moms like me.I write about my life because that is what I do. I love to share and while some people are all about politics or news.... My stage of life is all about me and my family. So most of my blogs are going to be just that. This year, we welcomed our very first foreign exchange student into our home. It has been both a challange and a blessing. I am happy to have him and practicing for when my own children get to be that age. I will admit that it is scary having a high school student as a child of mine because of the freedom I need to allow, but I am learning to let go and be watchful but not overbearing on him. This is going to be an interesting year..
