Welcome to the real world. You are now considered responsible for your actions, and will be held accountable. Mom and Dad are off the hook.

I don't know! I was thinking about this the other day. Is it legal to smoke at 18? Even if it is it holds no relevance for me.

You can vote now . . .

When I turned 17 I was like WHOO HOOOO . . . wait, what's the big deal? I can see an R rated movie? I don't even like R rated movies!!

Trust me on this one, the older and wiser part doesn't come until at least after 40.
All that comes with turning 18 is more legal issues and responsibility.
Welcome to the adult world.
Be careful and always be open to learning.
We never stop learning.

I tell my students all the time, the only thing that really changes when you turn 18 is that if you really screw up, you can go to prison.

I have said on many occasions that when they raised the drinking age to 21, they should have raised several other things: the voting age to 21; the ability to drive a car to 18 ... add in any thing you like on this list.

One of the problems in society these days is people are growing older, not growing up. Many people are not ready to be on their own, and stay living at hime into their 20's and even 30's now.

I guess the old saying is true: "growing up ain't what is used to be."

Turing 18. Well, when I turned 18 back in 1994, I had to get a State ID also. And I still living with my parents, going to high school, and graduated. Plus, I registered to Vote (which is a must at the age! Get out and register!) and I registered for Selective Service - that's for men who were born before 1960, which I did through financial aid years back, when I started college. And by the way, it doesn't qualify for females, and plus it is a requirement for jobs now. That used to scare me because I thought the Military wanted me so badly. Especially the Marines! LOL

My uncle used to say that responsibility goes up! And this was the real deal. But you'll have some fun though.

For me, turning 18 was a very big deal. I got a loan and bought that hot rod my dad wouldn't let me have. I got the cowboy boots with the really pointy toes that were going to curve my spine, rot my brain and keep America from winning the war! I could live on potato chips, doughnuts, and Pepsi if I wanted to and nobody could stop me. Curfew? What? Your house, your rules? Not if I'm paying rent there won't be any rules! Make a million dollars or go to jail. Oh yeah... 18 was a very big deal.

You can blame your parents for whatever until you turn 18. After 18 it's shame on you if you screw up. Yes, you have more responsibility. And no, wisdom really does come about the age of 40; although I know a few 40-something year old teenagers...and it's very sad. They have never grown up and they think it's cool to act like they did back when they were 17. They look pretty stupid. Don't make that mistake.

Get a job. Pay rent to your parents. And that means if you are still living with mom and dad and even though you pay rent, you respect their house and THEIR rules until you move out. Watch your credit report and pay your bills on time. Be the most responsible adult you can be and you will be much, much happier for a long time.

I remember turning 18 in April of 85. I was in 11th grade. I moved away from my mother's house. I lived with a friend of the family until I graduated from high school in June of 1986. I had a job on weekends and full time in the summers cleaning in the small town hospital in Oconto Falls. That money I made paid for food and shelter. I didn't live free. I made my own food and pettled my bike to places. My life didn't start until I moved to Racine. I will not forget June 6th 1986. In the afternoon I got my deploma and by 7pm, I was in racine. I stayed with my brothers and sisters until I got a job and moved into my first place alone, no one to talk to. I had a cute little apartment. It was fun getting stuff for my place. I love the color pink and flowers. Everything was prety and lace. I lived on my own for three years and that is when I met the father of my three children. I did not like to drink to much. I was to much into getting things for my place. Enjoy life, make the best of it Mookie0707.

Im a very fun person to be around but when the news come on I have to be as serious as I can be and whenever I have something on my mind I always let people know that something is bothering me.
