You've seen all the super-duper-aero-dynamic clothes the athletes are wearing to make them faster.
So why in the track and field events are they still wearing numbers fastened with safety pins. The numbers on their legs are glued on somehow, but the ones on their chest and backs are still flapping in the wind.
Doesn't make sense.

I went out swinging way too many Thursday at Brown Deer Golf Course but it was a beautiful day and it was for a good cause.
The event benefitting First Tee Milwaukee County, dedicated to getting girls and boys involved in golf from a young age to teach values and responsibility. (www.thefirsttee.org)
For many kids it's free or at most $40 dollars for the program. Check it out!

MILWAUKEE AREA RESIDENTS
TO WALK FOR A WORLD FREE OF MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS
(MILWAUKEE, WI) – This Sunday, residents from the Milwaukee area will join more than 11,000 people throughout the state and walk for a world free of multiple sclerosis (MS) at
Walk MS: Christopher & Banks Walk 2008, celebrating 20 years
. The walk will take place on Sunday, May 4, at the Summerfest grounds at Milwaukee’s lakefront. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m., with the walk to follow at 10:00 a.m. Participants may choose from a 3.1 or 7.5 mile route, beginning and ending at the same location. Special guest Senator Alberta Darling is scheduled to participate in the festivities. Walk MS is an event of the National MS Society – Wisconsin Chapter.
Spread over three weekends, Walk MS 2008 takes place in 13 cities throughout Wisconsin, raising funds to support research, client programs and services, and advocacy efforts for the more than 10,000 families living with MS in the state. Other area cities hosting Walk MS events this weekend are: Oconomowoc (Greenland Elementary) and Racine/Kenosha (UW-Parkside).
Walk MS is a fully supported event, providing scenic and accessible routes, rest stops with food and beverages, first aid, and snacks. Additional entertainment will be provided by Jo Jo and the Monkeys.
Although there is no registration fee, pledges are required. Participants are eligible for award and prize incentives based on the funds they raise. Last year’s MS Walk raised more than $1.8 million throughout the state. The goal for 2008 is to raise$1.9 million statewide, with more than $470,000 coming from the Milwaukee walk.
Sponsors of the event include Christopher & Banks, Acorda, American Family Insurance, Potawatomi, Open Pantry, Bank of Elmwood, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield: Blue View Vision, the Cordon Foundation, Whyte, Hirschboek & Dudek, and RW Baird.
MS interrupts the flow of information from the brain to the body and stops people from moving. It is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. Most people are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with more than twice as many women as men contracting the disease. One in 500 Wisconsin residents lives with MS, giving our state one of the highest incidence rates in the country. While the progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, advances in research and treatment are giving hope to those affected by the disease.
MS stops people from moving. The National MS Society exists to make sure it doesn’t. For more information visit
www.wisMS.org or call 262.369.4400 or 800.242.3358 toll free in Wisconsin. Join the movement.
Hard to get over it

It's hard to get over the Packers loss. I'm not a huge football fan by any definition. I must admit that I'm usually taking a nap during most games on Sunday before I have to come into work.
But I remember covering Super Bowl 31 and I loved every minute of it down in New Orleans.
From interviewing Brett Favre's parents to the fans on Bourbon Street. What a blast!
Favre's family was picking toilet paper out of their trees. Neighbors were so excited for Brett's win against the Panthers..they thought "let's TP the Favres." His family was welcoming, fun and forgiving.
You see..the Favre's lived on Farve Street. Which would be quite an honor if the city hadn't misspelled their name by putting the "r" before the "v".
Irv told me he thought it was funny and wouldn't think about asking officials to change it.
Memories I wish I could have told you about during our Super Bowl 42 coverage..but oh well..at least I can blog about it.
Sara White has MS

I didn't know this but Reggie White's widow, Sara, was diagnosed with MS in 2003. A year before Reggie suddenly died of sleep apnea.
Today I had the honor of meeting her and her daughter during the Promise 2010 Luncheon for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Sara first noticed a numbness in her legs and trouble running and then a year later she was diagnosed with MS. She says Reggie took it the hardest and did all the cooking and cleaning.
Joking she said if she knew he would do all the work, she would have calmed MS much earlier. :)
She is truly a beautiful woman inside and out and I hope her story will inspire you to find out more about MS.
www.wisms.org and if you're a real Reggie fan, Sara just completed a new DVD about her husband's life. http://www.reggiewhitedvd.com/
Hammerin' Hank

My family and some friends biked the Hank Aaron Trail last weekend. It starts at Miller Park and winds east along the Menomonee River. Beautiful.

I wanting to take it all the way to the new Lakeshore State Park behind the Summerfest grounds.
The park is pretty cool, and you can kayak and fish..it's great. But more of the Aaron trail needs to be "Hammered" out..to make it an easy connection.
The way it goes now you have to ride over the 6th Street Bridge and then weave through the 3rd ward a bit. Not a problem for most bike riders..but kind of scary with a kid in the trailer.
Still worth the ride though.
