Stooped refers to my posture after nine hours of  gardening this past weekend.

Beautiful refers to our yard after working so hard. I know it won't remain that way unless I spend many more hours maintaining the flowers and bushes. Granted, some of that time went to cleaning cobwebs off of the lawn chairs and dirt spots off of the deck. Still, that's a chunk of time!

Here's the deal: I am telling this to a co-worker who is an avid gardener and he reminds me not to take it so seriously. He said --- 'Why do you use the term maintenance for gardening? It's wonderful being outside, just you and the plants'.

He's right. It should be. But, I'm a Type A personality.  At work, that's a plus. You need the story done as soon as possible and done right! That's fine for a news reporter on a deadline. But there is no deadline in the garden. That should be my summertime mantra. Perhaps I need to take more lemonade breaks while working outside. And a little shot of vodka in the lemonade if it's later in the day!

What do you like to plant? I love bright colors. I found a geranium called "Swing" which is the deepest, brightest pink I've ever seen!

I planted a vegetable garden several years ago before we moved to a new home. My hubby put up a fence and we put in pavers for a path. It was really fun. I would love to do it next year but don't know if I'm up to the work --- getting the land ready, putting up fence and tending the garden so diligently. We also have a lot of wild animals around who think our yard is a salad bar for them. I would hate to give them a really big reason to come around.

jlbini --- I am really enjoying the periwinkle I've added to some of the pots. (Pretty blue flower with substantial coverage).

I also am totally enjoying our backyard right now with the beautiful weather and pretty plants and flowers.

My word --- I think I'm learning to relax!

You see me talking on television about health topics. It is my worktime passion, driven by the many rewards from viewers who call or write to share their challenges or a thank you for information that might have improved the quality of their life. When I'm not working, I'm hanging with my family, gardening, or having fun with friends. I can honestly say, Milwaukee is my home and I love it here! I'm going on twenty years in the same city and at the same television station. That's a lifetime in the television business! I like all sorts of music. I'm hooked on the show "Damages" and I think I'm addicted to the computer game Spider Solitare. I've been known to say, 'Just one more game and I'll turn off the computer! I just know I can beat my last score!'
