I have a friend Nancy who doesn't get what we are doing here. She has read my blog and your comments. In a round-about-way, she thinks we blog about nothing. I explained that blogs are meant to get people talking. It doesn't have to be about a cure for cancer or the mathmatical equation for why the earth turns on its axis. Wasn't there a hit show called "Seinfeld"  that entertained people week after week about nothing?

 Nancy is interesting, bright, fun, entertaining. I think it would be great if she joined in and blogged with us. Don't you?

Drop Nancy a line in the comments below. Maybe she start blogging and find out why we like it so much.

Nancy has seen your comments and she seems intrigued! (I got a voicemail from her and an e-mail).

I think we might hear from her today. She wants to know, should she say something inflammatory or play it cool. I say, she should just be her wonderful self! What do you think?

It's sad that the flags only come out in times of disaster, or Flag Day, or Memorial Day, and July 4th. I fly mine 24/7 (with a light on it at night), along with my P.O.W./M.I.A. flag right below it. I have GREAT pride in this country and I never forget to show it.

How many people will do something to honor our soldiers this weekend? It is too bad that so many communitites have canceled parades...we need to start something at the grass roots level and bring back that wonderful tradition. How many people marched as a child and now have no place to watch others?????

Welcome Nancy!!

We always have our flag on display. The Shorewood Men's Club puts on a very nice presentation at Atwater. I believe it is this Sunday. My dad is a memeber and he just organizes it for us and we go when he tells us!


I wish more communities would show respect for our soldiers.

The Cemeteries at Union Grove and Woods have BEAUTIFUL ceremonies to honor Veterans every year, complete with taps. I believe the ceremony at Union Grove is Sunday and Woods holds theirs on Monday. I will be at Woods and my mom goes to Union Grove. It's a very emotional ceremony. It brings me to tears every year. I also hand out some P.O.W./M.I.A. hand-held flags there.

No Nancy, I am not a Veteran. I am simply a wife, a mother of 8, and a grandmother of 2. I come from a long line of military people though. I just have always had a great appreciation for those who have/are serving this great country and fought to provide us all with the freedoms that we have. My heart is especially out there for the Vietnam era Veterans. I guess you could say they are my favorites. I hold an event every year for National P.O.W./ M.I.A. Recognition Day, to remember and the ones we left behind.

When I'm not working, I'm hanging with my family, gardening, or having fun with friends. I can honestly say, Milwaukee is my home and I love it here!
