I probably should've been sleeping, but I wanted to catch a glimpse of the opening VMA act , so I stayed up past my bedtime. BIG mistake, I thought it was terrible!
Britney looks better, but c'mon...who's doing her hair?! She needs to get rid of those ugly extensions and go natural. That's all I got to see. I'm sure there are other people who were smarter than I was and went to bed before that garbage came on.
Sorry if I offended anyone who enjoyed it.

I Went to the Wisconsin State Fair for the first time as a visitor, and let me tell you....I threw healthy eating out the window for a day, and it was worth every bite.
My first meal was a corn dog , which I believe is a must at the fair, even if you've already stuffed your face with roasted corn, like I wish I would have.
Next came my smore on a stick. Can I just tell you something? I think I died and went to heaven with the first bite, if you haven't tried this one, you're missing out. The marshmallow, chocolate, dough conbination melts in your mouth. it's much better than fried oreos, I've had those too.
I closed the deal with a scoop of ice cream, but not just any ice cream, this one's called Pirate's Booty. Weird name, excellent combination. Think caramel ice cream, oreo cookies and m & m's. It was to die for - here I go with the dying again - but it was that good.
That's all I could fit in my belly, but next time I go to the fair I plan on trying the macaroni & cheese on a stick -which i heard is excellent - and the shrimp on a stick, which I still think is just a shishkabob.
Oh, and don't forget to get a glass of milk. It's only 25 cents a glass, and worth every penny. I had strawberry and it was good., good.

Ok, I have to admit, I am a total dork.....when I go home I LOVE to play Guitar Hero with my family (I'm not a huge video game player, but I do play once in a while).
I used to have an X-Box, but I don't anymore. I want to get PlayStation 3 - so I can play Guitar Hero of course - but I'm debating on the memory capacity, should I get an 80GB or the 40GB ...any thoughts?

Just when we thought winter was almost over, guess what? here comes another reminder that it's not!
More snow is expected tonight, and trust me, I am not looking forward to it. Don't get me wrong, I love snow.....I just don't love what comes after the snow. Potholes, messy streets, and dirty cars, not to mention my black coats covered in dried up salt....at the end of most days I look like I just got done rolling around in a very dusty ground.
I'm ready for Spring, how about you?

For those of you who think the recent beef recall, and the inhumane treatment of cattle is something new, wake-up.
First of all, there have been animal treatment issues with cattle farms for as long as some of us have been alive. The problem is there is no one there to report it. The USDA -- the main body responsible for keeping an eye on these types of issues -- does not have enough inspectors, in other words, they're understaffed, so they can't be there to see if things are being done the right way.
This recent beef recall came to the surface because of PETA. Now, I know this organization does have somewhat of a bad rep. Some people say they exaggerate what happens to animals. But the issue with beef, is no exaggeration.
Cows get injected with growth hormones to fatten them up, some of them get so fat they can't walk. Because they can't walk they get sores in their bodies, the sores get infected, and well....you know what happens after that. Thing is, that meat, that nasty infected meat gets mixed with "good" meat, so we end up eating it.
Forget for a moment about the infected, nasty, rotten meat. What about the growth hormones, the anti-biotics, the filth they are forced to eat (some cattle are fed the same nasty rotten meat that ends up on our tables), we end up digesting that stuff too.
If you haven't figured it out, I don't eat red meat. I stopped eating red meat a long time ago, mainly because I did a lot of research into the meat industry, and trust me, it ain't pretty. I don't expect you to agree with my point of view, but I would hope that you would at least educate yourself about what you put in your body.
By the way...same deal with milk, I just didn't want to gross you out....it's too early in the morning.

I did a story today about all the preparations for tomorrow's primary.
I have to tell you, I wish I had more time to write about the woman in charge of the Election Commission warehouse. She was in charge of getting the equipment to the right place, and from what I could tell she was incredibly passionate about her job, and it showed.
She wasn't stressed out, she wasn't mean or short with me, and she was incredibly knowledgeable. This is what happens when you love what you do. No matter what you do, even in times of distress, when you're happy it shows!
I share this with you because it's about to get extremely busy for the Election Commission, and the people behind the scenes often go unnoticed. They deserve to be recognized for their hard work.

Today Rene Banot gave me some toe warmers. I put them inside my snow boots, and in a few minutes I will be putting them to the test, flying to Rock County.
I don't know if you all know that we have a new helicopter. This one is just as nice as the one before, but it's not as warm. Last night when I was reporting I could see my breath, and my toes were freezing.
I'll have to let you all know if my toe warmers worked.

I went to the mall last week. Everything that was on sale after Christmas is an additional 40% off!!
My shopping adventure got me thinking.....we are a society of consumption.
Think about it, when we feel down, what do we do? we go shopping. Going out with the girls, we go shopping. Birthdays, Holidays, weddings, get togethers, not to mention when it's cold.....what do we do? we go shopping. It's amazing just how much we buy! Studies show that shopping releases endorphins, a chemical in the brain that makes us feel better, happy. But isn't there a better way?
After shopping I went home, hit the gym, promised to do something about my spending, and released some endorphins for free.
* I should mention working-out also releases endorphins.

Gas is up to $3.15 / gallon just in time for Thanksgiving!!
I guess we can consider the price hike a little gift from Mr. - I'm-making-more-money-than the-average-living-man-will-ever-see-in-his-lifetime - CEO of BP.
I know oil companies are just that, companies, and as such they have to make a profit. But c'mon....record breaking profits, retired CEO's walking away with billions....How much is enough?

I just bought the new Alicia Keys CD "As I am", and let me tell you...it's tha bomb!! Ok, maybe I don't sound as cool as she does...but this is definately one to buy.
Keys doesn't disappoint. Her vocals, her piano skills, her producing skills..you name it, she's probably good at it. I've seen her in concert and she's just as good, if not better than the times I've seen her on T.V.
Love, love, love the intro to the new CD.....and ofcourse who could forget the wickedly catchy song "no one" - which by the way, is still running through my head.
This girl has skills!!
If you haven't bought the CD good luck finding it.

I don't think I've ever been this excited about getting cable in my life!!
After nearly a year, I have broken down and called the cable company....Happiest day of my life, next to getting an interview with Cheech Marin, and Senator Richard Lugar.
I won't go into why I didn't get cable for a year, but I will say that this year has been the most fulfilling year of my short life, mainly because I got to read a few books, three to be exact.
So please, welcome me with warm embrace to the world of cable television......I am looking forward to flipping over 99 channels, and finding nothing to watch.

I know winter is just around the corner, but give me a break.....We went from 80 degree weather to the 40's in just a matter of days!! I mean, it's not like we gradually dropped the temperature down...oh no, one day I was running outside in the heat, and the next day I'm running around looking for my winter coat!
Don't get me wrong, I love the fall and I love Milwaukee, but it'd be nice to get the heads up before mother nature turns the thermostat to winter-like temperatures (at least that's what it felt like to me).

Ok, since I haven't blogged in a while I thought it would be interesting to talk about the hottest thing on T.V. right now.....The Bachelor. This guy is by far the best looking man they've had since the show started.
I know it's not a FOX show, but how can you not watch? I watched the first episode and couldn't believe the things that some of these women did to impress this guy! From saying hi to him in a different language - the expression-less look on the woman's face who said it didn't help - to getting drunk on the first night.
I feel sorry for this guy, I really do!
It will be intersting to see who he ends up with.

I did a story today about a playground fire in Arlington, Texas. It happened when woodchips spontaneously combusted. I don't know about you, but when I hear the "spontaneously combusted" part of it, kinda gives me the creeps.
You know what comes to mind? Those black and white pictures of people who "spontaneously combusted" while sleeping, or sitting on a chair. How does that happen? and more importantly, is it real?
I know how woodchips could spontaneously combust......I don't think anybody knows how the same could happen to people, or can it?
Sorry...my mind works in strange ways.
