I don't do this sort of thing very often but I just had to pass the word on....

My husband and I took a couple of friends out for a late dinner Wednesday night and after much conversation, we thought we'd try out the newest restaurant on Jefferson St. (formerly Monsoon) called Mi-keys.

The place was bumpin' (Ladies Night will do that) and we were able to get a great table near the bar and fireplace. Our server was awesome - fun and engaging, even making helpful suggestions on the menu! And speaking of the menu - everything we had was WONDERFUL! The four of us enjoyed the Ahi tuna, the Meatloaf, the Tenderloin and the Salmon.... and there were zero complaints. All the sides complemented the dishes so well! The contemporary music made the atmosphere inviting and we ended up hanging around for hours (Apologies to our server for squatting.)

Sorry to gush but we just had such an amazing time, I thought what better way to thank the folks at Mi-keys than pass the word on to you guys. Maybe the next time you're wondering where to dine downtown, you'll consider this happening new spot with terrific food and employees!

Out of curiousitudeness(a term my friend likes to use): Did you run in the Lakefront marathon?

hey jen24!

I re-injured my left knee (probably while in training for the Full and running the Lake Country Half) So I had to have another knee surgery last Monday (6 days before the marathon.) Needless to say I had to sit this one out. I was disappointed but figure I can try again next year! Thanks for asking!

My wife and I just went there for her birthday. Excellent food for sure. Another great place we go is The Lake Park Bistro. You can get a seat by the window and look out over the lake. Beautiful.

I see everyone is doing it big going out having a good time. I wish I can do something like that, but I don't anyone from work or outside of work who likes doing the things you do.

I agree too. It must have been a cool place. What else do they serve there besides what you had Jen?

Wow....you're already selling out. Unreal.

All I did was describe my experience.

Considering I don't/won't get anything from this company in exchange for the kind words, it is hardly selling out.

Plus here's another FOX 6 anchor's testiment to a positive experience at a different restaurant. We don't make it a regular thing but if these blogs are for anything, it's sharing info.

Jen, it sounds like you had an excellent time! I bet with your crazy schedule you and your husband don't get out much. Thanks for sharing.

We are actually looking for a great place for brunch if anyone has some recommendations.

Sounds more like a client of the station getting some added value for their buy. You sounded like you were reading off of bullet points.

Also, please tell me that they MADE you do that Joggling story. "Mind-joggling"....good grief. Slow news day?

I'm the newest face in the FOX 6 sports department... and I love tapping out little sports blogs to inform, entertain and encourage conversation. I'll be on the desk this fall for the High School Blitz (Fridays @ 10:20pm), the Saturday sportscasts (6, 9 & 10) and joining the veterans every Sunday for the Fox Six Blitz! Most other days, you can find me bouncing around Milwaukee's sport scenes working on feature reporting. Got an opinion? We've got the perfect place to share them! Blog away! You know we will!
