I'm just going to be straight forward and honest here. I was one of those fans who were riding the fence during this whole soap opera between Favre and the Pack. I like most fans would of loved to see the Favre Dynasty continue on, but I would love to see what Rodgers can do as well. Well as everyone knows, you have to choose one or the other, and The Packers chose to trade Brett to the Jets. Now its time for the Packer Nation to swallow their pride and give Rodgers the welcoming he deserves. Of course he is not going to be as good as Brett, or as well loved as him either, but we need to give him a chance. I'll admit its sad to see Brett go. For the last 16 seasons, we have become attached to Brett and his love for the game. We have accepted him into our hearts and into our living rooms every Sunday. Its not going to be the same seeing him on TV wearing a green and white Jersey, or to see Bretts face with the words under him reading "New York Jets Quarterback." It's going to take some time to get used to, but its time to move on. I think the Packers front office did all they could to keep Brett on the team. Ya they didn't offer him to be a starting QB, but everyone has to remember, Brett DID retire in March. Once a player retires that team needs to find a replacement. That replacement was Rodgers. You can't just tell the new starting QB who has been waiting for this moment to just step aside and let the former QB to play again. That wouldn't be fair to him, and that would make the Packers look bad as well. I think everyone needs to settle down and relax and let Rodgers show what he can do. Its his time to shine. Who knows, maybe he will be better than we expected and do some amazing things for the Packers.

Only time will tell...

Its been awhile since I wrote, but I think this is an appropriate time to do so. I know there are going to be a lot of blogs like this today, but that is the beauty of this site. This is a great way for us fans to thank Brett for his dedication, passion, and for his love of the game. As were many fans this morning, I was shocked and sad to hear Brett was finally retiring. Everyone was expecting it, and a lot of us probably yelled for Brett to retire during one of his mistakes during the game, but its still a shock. It is going to be hard for us fans to picture our beloved team, without seeing the number 4 on the screen, or to not hear his name mentioned in excitement when a big play is made. It is honestly very sad to hear that Favre is retiring. Its the end of another dynasty, the end of another legend, the end of another hero. It is now a time of remembrance and now a time of rebuilding for the Packers. Brett was undoubtedly the greatest player to ever play. Better than Marino, better than Young, better than Namath, and do I even dare say, better than Starr. Brett was a class act, he wasn't like a lot of the players in the NFL today. He was down to earth, melancholy, and just himself. You would never see Brett taking out a sharpie and signing a ball after a touchdown, or grabbing a cheerleaders pompoms and celebrating. He is a great role model for kids, and an all around great guy to look up too. This is what made Brett so different than the rest of the players in the NFL. He had a great attitude and great respect for the game. He took his mistakes in pride, and down played his achievements like they were nothing. He didn't like bragging about his records, and he didn't like talking about himself at all. All he cared about was his family, his fans, and the game. This is why Brett is loved by so many people, not just in Wisconsin, but all over the world. Those are the reasons many fans have a lot of memories of Brett, but theres only a few that stand out for me. One of the best Brett memories is the game he played against Oakland, after his Dad passed. I believe that is his best game ever, due to personal reasons. He won that game not for the team, not for the fans, but for his Dad. The second most memorable game for me is Super Bowl XXXI . This was a great game for Brett, this game made the doubters believers. This game turned the haters into fans. It really proved Brett was the legend he was being made into. It showed that Brett was the real deal, and he was the quaterback that was right for our team. The last memorable Brett moment for me wasn't on the field, or on TV even. It was when I went up to Green Bay to watch the team practice before the pre-season. It was the season after Super Bowl XXXI, and I was watching the team practice. During practice, they would hand out tickets to fans along the fence to be able to get inside the autograph session afterwards. I saw the guy handing out tickets, so I stuck my fingers through the fence, and was handed one. After getting the ticket, I learned Brett would be one of the players signing autographs. I freaked out, I couldn't believe I was going to meet Brett. So when the time came, I entered the field approached the first two players said thanks and moved on to Brett. I walked up to Brett and handed him my program guide for training camp. As he signed my program guide, he looked up at me and asked, "You're not going to sell this are you?" We both laughed and I replied "No." I will never forget that day, but there is two things I regret about that day. I regret not spending the money on a Brett jersey for him to sign, and I regret for not being more careful later on. After I got home from vacation, I accidentally spilled milk on the program. Luckily the program is still usable, and still readable, and the autographs are still intact, but probably not worth anything. Ruined autograph or not, it still amazes me I got the opportunity to meet Brett. I only wish Brett could of played one more year, so than I would have another year to save my money up to replace that autograph with a better one that isn't ruined. What isn't ruined though, is Brett's legacy. Brett leaves behind a long and impressive path of records, millions of fans, the respect and the love of them game, but most of all a lot of great memories for sports fans. Brett will surely be missed on Sunday's, but he will never be forgotten. Thank you Brett.

Thats it, I give up on the Brewers!! Wisconsin teams can never do anything right. When the season started, I was like many fans, thinking, that maybe this is the year they make it all the way. I kept that faith all the way up until shortly after the All Star break concluded. Obviously the Brewers, don't want it bad enough to be known as division champs, or maybe even world series champs. Apparently they want to be known as the team of 07 who started hot, but exited cold. Not only are the Cubs a threat (luckily their streak has ended as of lately,) but now the Cards are catching up!! The Brewers better get their head out of their a**es and start playing like they want to be known as winners, instead of losers. It would be a national embarrassment knowing the hottest team at the beginning of 07, became the biggest losers of 07 instead.

Barry Bonds is NOT the new home run king, Hank Aaron is still the home run king in my book. Yes I'm well aware Barry hit number 756 last night, but he cheated by using steroids. In my opinion, if you are going to attempt to break someones record, you should do it the same way as that person did. In Barry's case, that means, by not using steroids. That is why, Hank is still the king in my eyes. As far as we know, he never used performance enhancing drugs, to hit 755 home runs. I just really hope the next person who goes to try to break Barry's "record," does it drug free. That is the only way to even it out, and to make things right again when you're trying to break the records. I honestly don't think Barry should be credited with the honor of being the new home run king. Unfortunately the sports world does not seem to agree with this. Because of this, us baseball fans now have to deal with another player who will be recognized for achieving a goal, that he truly does not deserve. I think when Barry gets his little plaque in Cooperstown, there should be a little spot on his plaque in asterisks that reads, this record was achieved with the help of steroids. So that when our kids grow up, they can also know he cheated. What is wrong with the baseball players of today. Why can't they play the sport like the legends of yesteryear did? You never hear anything about Babe Ruth, or Jackie Robinson, or Roger Maris achieving their records with the aide of performance enhancing drugs (as far as I know.) I feel sorry for Hank Aaron. I would be so upset and annoyed knowing my record was just beat by some, so called athlete, who is to weak on his own strength to achieve his goal. Real athletes don't need to take performance enhancing drugs to play the game, or to achieve their goals in the sport they play. Real athletes are the ones who actually care about playing the game the way it should be played, and the way it was played, when the legends played it. I think Barry should quit steroids, man up, and grow a pair (that is if there is anything down there to grow anymore.) This is the only way he will become a real athlete. Actually, I take that back. He should just retire at the end of this season. He reached his goal, and he should quit while he is ahead. I'm so tired of hearing about him. He doesn't deserve any of this attention. He didn't reach this benchmark fairly. I hope he is happy knowing he joined the club of athletes who achieved their benchmarks by cheating.

Arrrgh!! What is up with Wisconsin sports teams starting the season with a bang, then blowing it mid-season? I'm obviously talking about the Brewers. What happened?! They were doing so good before the All Star break, but now after the All-Star break is over, and Ben Sheets is out, we start losing game after game. How come we can beat the best place teams, but then get embarrassed on national TV, against a last place team? It obvious our problem is pitching. We need Ben Sheets back. Does anyone know when he is going to be back on the field and playing? If he doesn't come back soon, were going to lose our first place standing to the Cubs. Only Sheets, can save us now...
