Did you know ... compact fluorescent bulbs are four times more energy efficient than incandescent bulbs and provide the same light levels?

Using new lighting technologies can reduce energy use in your home by 50-75 percent.

For indoor lighting, use tube fluorescent and energy efficient CFLs. They are more efficient than standard bulbs and last about 4-10 times longer!

Done and done. We switched quite a few years back and have saved at least $30 a month on our energy bill and the bulbs last longer. We also remember to unplg or just turn off whatever we aren't using.

dps...blogs are not always about breaking news.
If that's what you're looking for check out the news page.
Many times blogs are about helpful hints or just stories one wants to share.

Besides, you saw the title of the blog, what did you think it was about?

I tried those new bulbs, they bring on my migraines. I cannot use them.

Prediction:

Today's proponents of CFBs will be tomorrow's opponents once the mercury content in our landfills spikes.

LED-based lighting, offering even better energy efficiency and near-zero toxicity are on their way. Hopefully, the Nichia and Seoul Semiconductor corporations will settle their intellectual property agreements and get the new bulbs to market before we follow Australia into madness by outlawing incandescents and mandating CFBs...

Hey Kat,
Technically by the title of the blog it could've been anything to do with indoor lighting say how to hang a ceiling light for example as that's indoor lighting.
I find "news" on flourescents comical myself as I have been using them for years although I too have thought of the mercury problem.

When we bought our house 5 yrs ago we put these everywhere, I must admit I learned something here about the mercury, I wasn't aware of that. Something to think about, how should we dispose of these bulbs? Are we suppose to put them in the regular garbage or can they be put in the recycling?

gee, I gotta agree with dps... the "news" on this news blog is embarrasing. We sound like a bunch of nervious nellys with our nose in everyone elses business... no talk about real news... t-shirts, tv reporters seen doing their jobs, band recruitment rosters, conspiracy theories...
Yes there are many good items, but the ones the FOX team selects to feature are nothing short of embarrasing.

How many union electricians does it take to screw in a light bulb?
5,
1 to do the work,
1 to complain that they aren't getting paid enough,
1 to complain they have to pay for part of their healthcare,
1 to ask when break time is and
1 to collect dues from the other 4!
No offfense to any electricians, it's just a joke!
: )
