I've been hearing a lot of things lately on this story of the Hmong man who is claiming that a police officer beat him, and he was not resisting arrest, like the officer claimed. Here are somr of the things the Hmong man and his attorney are saying about this case, and my responses to him.

He wasn't resisting arrest

According to the police reports, he was. And he also has two eye-witnesses backing him. If you heard the 911 calls, you can clearly see that the Hmong man was trying to drive off with the officer still on his car.

He couldn't speak English

Still, you see a man, with a silver badge, and police insignia on his uniform, getting out of a car with flashing red and blue lights, and a lot of decals, who is he supposed to be? A robber?

The way the officer took the man down was brutal

The officer was trying to save his own life! He had to somehow physically stop him. And he did. If the guy would've been pepper-sprayed, he would probably still have the foot on the gas pedal, with the risk of him losing his life.

Ed Flynn is a "dictator like' police chief

No he's not, he's just a police chief that's standing up for one of his men, and defending him, like a good police chief should do. Ed Flynn says there is a lot of evidence, including those 911 calls, to conclude that the Hmong man was putting the officer's life in danger.

And it's about time the MPD had a chief that was willing to stand up for his people when there was no wrongdoing! I'm not saying cops never make mistakes, and certainly they should be responsible for their actions, but if it was a guy on the street in the same situation, the reaction would probably have been the same as the cop's.

I am sick and tired of the police brutality claims. If you don't break the law, and then resist arrest, the officer won't have to use force. If you are breaking the law and get caught you pay the consequences. don't break the law and you have nothing to worry about.
It's an easy equation.
I hope the police chief is tough and doesn't take crap. I hope he weeds out the bad officers and doesn't back them when caught. I hope he does his job.

I couldnt care less, the guy was driving off with a Police Officer hanging from his vehicle. Reguardless of "language barriers" Ya
dont just drive off with someone clinging to your car....much less a cop!!!! ( i do admit the black eyes were a bit much) I guess it boils down to DONT BREAK THE DAM LAW AND THIS WONT HAPPEN TO YA!!!!

hahaha, I guess it would've helped if the guy spoke english!!! After reading about this story, is there any argument for people who think immigrants shouldn't have to learn english?

@aaro-nf; Was this blog posting featured on FOX6, or was it just the story? I watched the Fox6 news at 9 last night, and I didn't see this post.

Thank you to everyone for the positive comments. I'm glad people are supporting the police in this case.

The next thing I am probably going to blog on: NAN HAGERTY FILES DISCRIMINATION LAWSUIT AGAINST CITY OF MILWAUKEE.

I say Koua Moua is lucky all he got was two black eyes and 10 stitches from his crazy escapade. He was drunk, resisted arrest by an officer and dragged him down the street in his vehicle. The officer feared for his life and he (the officer) acted out accordingly. I applaud him! This guy probably didn't even have a valid drivers license and I doubt it's the first time he's been driving drunk either.
This entire thing is a farce! The ringleader of this circus is none other than clown atty. Alan Eisenberg. Of course where there is a free handout for one of the Hmong community they are all going to gather in support regardless of the fact they don't even know what the heck is going on!
This case should be laughed right out of court. I hope the court does find Koua Moua guilty of any & all charges brought against him! I also would like to add, considering what Ed Flynn came into when he took the job as police chief, he's doing a damn good job! Keep it up!!

Court? Who needs court?

Sounds like Koua Moua has been tried and convicted right here.

ifilus....what would you suggest an officer should do when someone is dragging him down the street after he is caught driving drunk?
Maybe he should have just let him go so he could have caused an accident and possibly killed someone?
Maybe he should have just let go of the moving vehicle and risk hurting himself?
I'd like your opinion on this.

My opinion is there's supposed to be such a thing as due process here in the USA. So perhaps people should wait until all the actual evidence is presented before the case is decided.

Hope no one here is in the jury pool.

I don't understand. Moua is going to get a fair trial no matter what, but everyone knows that he's going to be found guilty. There's too much evidence against him. And Moua was probably so drunk that night, he dosen't even remenber what happened.

So, he's guilty until proved innocent?

Ever watched Cops? The end of the intro says "All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law."

Technically, right now he's innocent. We're just expressing our opinions, our first amendment rights. We think he's guilty. We'll have to see what the jury says.

We're not deciding if he's guilty or not. That's the court's job.

I'm sorry everyone, but i have to agree with my guy ifilus here...."innocent" until proven guilty....in court. It's the American way.

Regardless if he acted like a jerk or not...he is being lynched by the mob on this blog already....last i recall, checking my calendar, this is 2008 not 1908.

I personally believe that if people would refrain from breaking the laws of this land, they wouldn't have to worry about police. I am 45 years old and have never been arrested. I have never even received a ticket (other than the one parking ticket from the Sheriff that came to the zoo because my truck was SLIGHTLY parked over the line in the parking spot). And I sure as Hell would never RUN from a cop, much less DRAG one along my car! If you are going to act the fool and get pulled over, at least have the human dignity and self respect to face the consequences. As far as him not speaking English...the flashing lights on the top of his squad speak a universal language..."YOU ARE BUSTED BUDDY! PULL OVER!" What did he think it was, a snow plow?!?! Give me a break. Just another case of someone trying to play the race card and shout discrimination. Everyone should just learn to obey the laws and then you won't have to worry about it. How did that old saying go??? "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time".

Please explain how anyone here knows exactly what transpired or how the guy really acted.

Oh that's right, the police report!

And members of the MPD have never been known to lie.

There were witnesses other than the police.

ifilus read my blog view my photos

Look, all I'm saying is...if the witnesses' accounts are credible (which they rarely are) and/or there is enough irrefutable evidence proving the accused is guilty, then by all means he should be convicted and sentenced for his crime.

Until then, he is still an innocent man with a battered face.

But, see, he's not innocent.
He was drunk.
He did drive off with a police officer being dragged along.
For those things he isn't innocent.
The question is could the officer stop him any other way?
He couldn't pepper spray him because then they may both be dead.
Besides, the police chief said there will be no investigation. So the only court case there will be is the one for his drunken driving.
I still say if you don't break the law you don't have trouble. Period.

He is entirely innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
