I found this article about a girl being escorted out from a prom in Texas. She was not allowed in because of a custom made dress. The people running the prom thought it inappropriate. My question - What was she thinking and what was her mother thinking?

Further proof of the end of civility as we know it.
Pathetic.

I think they were thinking, "I'm gonna get me a man!!"
Wow...unbelieveable. Way to teach your child mom!

I just love the way she is "shocked" at having to go home. Wait until she is in the work force. Most places have a strict dress code. Is she going to have a temper tantrum when her boss tells her to go home and change?

I am going to go out on a limb and say that the comments to this point are probably from folks who are not a part of the African American community. So, I would like ask someone who in that community, WHY WOULD THAT BE DEEMED APPROPRIATE??????

On it's face, it seems to give a degree of validity to those who argue that alot of the problems within the African American Community come from within that community due to the breakdown of the "traditional" family and lowering of what some would call standards of conduct, or morals.

And what was her date gonna wear, a speedo?????

I'm 100% certain her prom date thought he was gonna' get lucky that night, he probably thought to himself ("easy as pie") .....but apparently he didn't, she went to jail. HA HA HA

this is not only inappropriate, its sick. I've seen Hookers on tv wearing more than she is.

and besides that, that is the UGLIEST dress I've ever seen. I mean, seriously If I saw her on the street I'd probably point and laugh at how rediculious she looked.

What did her mother say? "Sweetie... that skirt isn't short enough. If you bend over there's no way you'll expose yourself. Lets hike it up a bit."

Its more than inappropriate... its almost indecent exposure.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL, I think I got one of those pics on an e:mail with all kinds of girls in nasty dresses. I thought it was a joke. Obviously at least hers wasn't. Wow, I would take that scarf or bandana or whatever it was that sort of covered her top and strangled her with it if that were my daughter.

I just read another article about this. All who went to the prom had to sign something which clearly stated the dress code. This girl knew she was going to violate it.

OMG! Did a moth eat most of it? All that was left was not even enough to be considered a scarf, more like a thin ribbon with a hankerchief wrapped around her tush and just barely.

What did mom wear to her prom back in the day? A hat and ????

Trust me, this isn't anything new. When my daughter graduated there was one girl that wore a skirt so short you could see everything when she went up on the stage. We were all disgusted. Except for her mom who was proudly taking pictures.

Well, you can tell that I was an 80's teenager because prom still pretty much required guys in a tux, and girls to wear the big poofy long dress. I personally like dresses that do let you show your body a bit, but I also think that you can definately look sexier in a nicely fitted dress that covers you than letting it all hang out. There is alot to be said for leaving the rest up to the imagination.

I have been told that I am very opinionated. Not necessarily true but I am not afraid to speak my mind. I am very much anti "sheeple" and believe that people need to think and question why. I do not believe in blind faith or blindly following anything without question (including but not limited to religion and politics).
