Lake Delton is empty.

The words sound so ridiculous, I can hardly grasp what they mean.

Have you seen the pictures?  Incredible.  Flooded basements?  I expected that.  Swollen rivers?  No surprise.

But entire houses floating down a raging river that never existed before?  A county highway completely washed away?  Lake Delton - the centerpiece of Wisconsin tourism - sucked dry like a plug pulled from a bathtub?  Unbelievable.

B.P.

That is just horrifying. That had to felt like Hurricane Katrina to those who lost their homes or vacation homes in Lake Delton.

I went to Dells this weekend and my stay was horrible. The hotel lights were out plus the indoor waterpark wasn't working either. I demand a refund.

My friend George,"God rest his soul" use to live in Delton. I lost track of his family and I hope that they are ok.

There is a dam there. Between Upper and Lower Dells.
Back when I lived in the Dells, 1988-1990, there was a lot of talk about the size of the homes they were building around Lake Delton and the possiblity that the land could give from the amount of weight so close to the water. I guess they were right.
I'm taking a roadie over there this weekend to see what it looks like without Lake Delton.
It's just amazing.

Well, the injuns told them not to build that lake and the injuns told them not to build those big houses there.
Did anybody listen?
No, they just thought that we were blowing smoke in their faces.
And WE are stupid.
OK, gotcha.

Okay, so there is an "I" in I-Team. But don't be fooled. There's more Team than meets the eye. There are my producers, Patrick McCraney and Jennifer Schwarz. Our extraordinary editor, Dave Michuda. And then there are some of the best photojournalists in the business. As for me, I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri (Pattonville High School). I got my bachelors degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. And I've worked in both radio and television in Missouri, Iowa, and Wisconsin. In fact, I met a Wisconsin girl while working in Des Moines. We got married in the spring of 2000, moved to Kansas City, and four years later, she brought me home. We have two of the cutest kids on earth, plus two cats that give our Dyson a workout. I love snow skiing, soccer, Texas Hold 'Em, the St. Louis Cardinals, and ice cold beer (not necessarily in that order). I have a passion for my work. But there is no greater joy in my life than being a dad. Subscribe to my blog and you'll get an email everytime I add a new post.
