On Monday Fox 6 photojournalism Jeremiah Junkers and I travel to Boscobel Prison on the other side of the state to go one-on-one with Adrial Capri White.

On November 13, 2006 a jury of 8 women and four men found the Racine father of four guilty of first degree intentional murder for killing Christopher "Eric" Carbajal and wounding Enrico Serra, Jr. White came upon the teens as they were attempting to steal a $3000 speaker from his girlfriends 1991 white Saturn.

Wisconsin law does not allow the use of deadly force to protect personal property. White says it was self-defense when the teens made too much noise and he went to investigate with a loaded handgun -- claiming he had no idea what awaited him outside his home.

The Racine County District Attorney Mike Nieskes stands by his decision to charge white with murder versus a lesser charge. He says White had options. He could have called 9-1-1 or confronted the teens without a weapon and yelling at them to leave.

This case has split the Racine community over what to do about the rising property crime rate in West Racine, a typically quiet residential part of the city.

What are your thoughts? The myfoxmilwaukee.com community is interested.

My thought is that DA has his head up his a $ $. I just love how the people that run the system, which haven't had the experience of being a victim of crime, can make such absurd statements like call 911.

When I lived in Milwaukee I had something happen. I was home alone and in the shower while my infant daughter slept. I heard loud banging and peeked out the window to see a dude attempting to break down my exterior door by body slamming it. I quickly wrapped a towel around me and dialed 911. Go figure, no help came for an hour! The guy eventually gave up and left. I lived off Silver Spring right down from the 4th district station and when the police finally arrived they told me they got lost. This type of response to 911 is why citizens are empowering themselves over relying on law enforcement. And seeing that isn't going to change anytime soon, maybe some laws should change!

If the police aren't going to do their job someone has to. If you don't want to risk your life don't commit crimes. If you are going to commit crimes you are taking the risk that you may get caught and possibly hurt.

I had the same problems bartending. If I didn't say someone had a gun we wouldn't get response for hours. I had one young man die from getting hit repeatedly in the head with a poolstick. The fight had been going on for an hour in and out of the bar. If the police had come when I first called his death would have been avoided.

gardendesigner, if you were confronted by 3 thugs in the middle of the night in your alley not sure if they had guns or not are you telling me you would say to them, please wait a moment while I go get a phone to call 911, get real!!!!

People should have a right to defend themselves, their property and their family

If there were ANY common sense in this state we'd have conceal carry laws on the side of the honest citizens, NOT the criminals.

Hey, Governor DOPEY you listening?

This is an incredibly sensitive and controversial issue.

I personlly believe that vigilante behavior IS warranted. If you are approached by a criminal with a weapon, and you are armed as well, I would think that the normal human reaction is to fend for your life.
Is it not the policy of cops to do the same if met with a life-threatening situation?
So WHY are commonfolk punished for fending themselves or their property?
The way I view it is this: if you are so spineless, demoralized and mentally unhinged as to commit an armed criminal act, then you deserve to pay the consequences of your actions ~ whether that be paying with your life in prison, or six feet under. You take that chance when you make that choice.
I think White is a hero. More folks should show these thugs, hoodlums and inner city scum that we will simply not tolerate them abusing the innocent.

Whatever happened to protecting your property? Adrial had every right with what he did in protecting what was his. He got a royal screw job with the judisical system.

I too, would use any force necessary to protect myself and my family, it is human nature. What am I supposed to do, let some crazed maniac enter my house, steal my things, injure or kill my family and myself, and do NOTHING? Horse hockey! You enter my home (or my property) with ill will, boy, you are in for an old fashioned a** whoopin' along with getting your butt shotgun sprayed (to say the least). Granny don't mess around!

Should you kill someone over a pair of speakers ,no ,but a body full of adrenaline fear and anger don't always make the right choice !The criminals did make a clear choice !Crime comes with a hefty price sometimes and those who indulge in crime sometimes die ! How do you jail somebody trully not in the right frame of mind because he reacted to a situation not of his choice !Let him walk !

FREE ADRIEL WHITE!!! We all work hard for the things that we have. What gives anyone the right to take or do as they please? I wonder... does the fact that Adriel is a Black Man, have anything to do with his sentence?

It's not a race issue. Any of us that tries to protect ourselves, our family, or our property will find ourselves in Adriel's shoes. The laws nowadays give all of the rights to the criminals and NONE to the victims of the crime. The judicial system is massively screwed up.

Hey Gitr? Please revisit this topic when I go to one of your gatherings. The one I mentioned here was one of the calmer stories. I swear Wisconsin's laws are archaic when it comes to protection. (It seems like we need the mindset of a criminal to protect ourselves.)
